  1. "but it might just be because students who don´t get a scholarship simply don´t go." this is accurate, from my understanding, too. i didnt apply to GLODEP bc i was daunted by the high # of application they received, which in retrospect was an error. (i applied to GLOCAL, which ended up receiving much more applications this year than GLODEP) good luck to your gf. you re a good partner, putting in the research for her.
  2. do u know your position? i m curious abt this too, but (as u know) not particularly hopeful.
  3. not sure what you mean (unless you ve lied abt something)? but yeah, it s weird how ppl are asking abt 'profiles' as if we are competing against each other, or as if this forum matters at all or in any capacity. we re just trying to make sense of a process, or at least i am.
  4. i bet someone somewhere in a reserve list will be VERY happy abt your double success, too. congrats!
  5. was it about your GPA? and was yours above 3.0?
  6. yeah, apparently so. so, should i no longer keep my hopes up? (not like i was, anyway) it is, indeed, my first year applying, but i really want to go to school next year. it seems to me that a lot of people were disappointed with the glocal process, or at least that s how it seems online. they admit so many people, but only offer the award to so few. i m not really sure i see the point of having a reserve list of 600 people. and it s bizarre that so few people choose to attend it self-funded the other program i applied to was journalism, and i m so happy with how it all was handled, even if i didnt get the scholarship for it either. though for journalism, 80% of the students are self-funded. so it is hard to not consider that a sign of the caliber of the program
  7. honestly, i think i ll appeal. though there seems to be no hope to get anywhere through that. i m pretty pissed, tbh. generally the application experience has been fairly abominable for me. and i really regret not applying to 3 programs now. (i felt quite confident that i would get into GLOCAL)
  8. thanks for saying that, but i m not really hopeful. i am from a programme country, and i applied to 2. the first one gives only 1 award to my region. the 2nd gives 5 (the one where i m #6). but there s almost definitely nobody from my country in the program. so i m thinking about another 1-year masters in the netherlands and reapply for the scheme again next year. what program are you wanting to pursue? i think the program, your financial ability to self-finance and how urgent it is for you to start next year can be your criteria for how to decide.
  9. heyyy. i m sorry to say that i rly dont think you ll get it from being 8th on the res list. i m #1 on a reserve list, and i rly dont think i stand a chance. (who will pass on the opportunity of studying for free?) and the lists are separate. so you d need 8 ppl from the partner country list to pass, which is so highly unlikely.
  10. i wouldnt do it in her place. it s an expensive program.
  11. so: https://twitter.com/GLOCALerasmus/status/1113011501751787520
  12. " All applicants will be informed by email whether their application has been successful or unsuccessful by April 3rd at the latest. "
  13. hey! i think everything varies per program. (reputation etc) i dont think that anyone cares whether you re self-funding or not, and i d probably just look at the participating institutions for the program you re asking about. and yes, much cheaper than US, but it s a diff setup, imo. (more students direct from undergrad)
  14. hey man-numerically, i think it s an advantage to be from a partner country, as 75% of the scholarships are allocated there. (you were fully right on that, and i was wrong) i do think the person who started this thread miscategorized themselves, which i find interesting. i think that the fees are substantially higher than other mundus programs, which probably prevents more self-funded students. i was a US resident, but had spent more than 12 months in greece, so to me it s a white/ black scenario, and i wouldnt feel good w/ myself applying as a partner country. i just wish they provided the numbers you found on the twitter page on a yearly basis. i m getting very annoying in the process of waiting, overthinking about it and stuff. ? ocd, a little
  15. well it kinda makes some sense to me, now. last year they got 600 applications, of which 100 were programme countries. so 4 for a hundred--> 4% for the other 500, there were 17 scholarships, which roughly translates to the same percentage, and is a tiny bit lower (3.4). anyway, i m sure this analysis doesnt help anything. though i do wonder if people often miscategorize themselves. (and whether that is done intentionally or not)
  16. [yet somehow, the math doesnt add up to me, based on eacea scholarship disclosures]
  17. WOW. that s crazy low. yes, sounds very bleak.
  18. where did you see that? seems inaccurate based on the stats.
  19. hungary is a programme country, but you havent spent more than a year there yet? this is from the glocal site: " Students whose nationality is one of the Erasmus+ Partner countries and who are not residents nor have carried out their main activity (studies, training or work) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in a Programme country/countries are considered as Partner country students. The five year reference period for this 12 month rule is calculated backwards from the submission deadline (i.e. the 5 year period from 11 January 2014 to 11 January 2019). Apply as a Partner country applicant. Students whose nationality is one of the Erasmus+ Partner countries who do NOT fulfil the Partner country criteria defined above (12 month rule) count as Programme country students and should apply using the Programme country application form. Example: a Serbian student who lived in Germany for 13 months, 3 years before 11 January 2019 should apply as a Programme country student; a Mexican student who has been living in Spain for 11 months at 11 January 2019 (and never before in the 5 year period) should apply as a Partner country student. "
  20. https://eacea.ec.europa.eu/erasmus-plus/library/scholarship-statistics_en i think the chances appear to be higher for programme students
  21. hey-isnt the likelihood of receiving the scholarship higher for programme students? there s a 75% clause, no?
