  1. Hi All! I've been accepted to the full-time MSW program at Laurier this fall (so excited) and had previously been waitlisted at Western however I found out this week that I have been accepted to Western as well. I had already mentally committed to Laurier but now I'm doing some research to compare the programs and would love to hear from others who are currently attending either Western or Laurier ? Thanks in advance!
  2. One of the emails I received from Laurier said that course selection will open up mid-May and that we would receive an email with information about it. I keep checking my Laurier and personal email and haven't received any emails so I don't think it has started yet.
  3. Hi Nicole, Thanks for sharing your experience! It's so great to hear that you're enjoying the program, I am really looking forward to starting in September ! Hope to see you around campus Jessica
  4. Hey! When I went to the MSW information session at Laurier this past fall they mentioned that they offer the courses at a discounted rate for Laurier students so maybe they just changed this as of 2019? I am interested in completing a few of the certificates as well.
  5. Hi Nicole! Thanks so much for sharing some information about your schedule for the first few semesters of the MSW program at Laurier. How are you enjoying the program so far? Do you have any others tips or words of wisdom for those of us who are just starting the program? I was also wondering if you found that you were able to buy used textbooks and what the approximate cost was for textbooks during your first two terms? I am starting this September and am really looking forward to it!! Thanks in advance! Jessica
  6. Doesn't look like it but I'd love to join/create one!
  7. Hey, I know the deadline has passed for this term but I believe the next application opens up again in the fall and closes sometime in December so I think we could still apply at that time and then if we were to be approved we would receive the funding April 2020 (I still need to look into this more). I did see a note here that https://web.wlu.ca/ogsp/application the "scholarship cannot be held for a single term, you must be enrolled in the "proposed program" at the time of the award commencement". Does anyone else have more information on this? Can you apply for the OGS during the first term of the MSW program at Laurier?
  8. Hey! I didn't initially apply for OGS either but I believe you can still apply for it while you're in the program, you just wouldn't get the funding until a later semester if you are approved. Also, there is a good resource on the Laurier website about scholarships: https://students.wlu.ca/registration-and-finances/graduate-funding-and-awards/external-funding.html Minimum Academic Requirements The applicant must, at minimum, meet the following OGS academic requirements: If entering the first or second year of graduate studies at the time of application, the applicant must have an overall average of at least A- (or equivalent) in each of the last two years of study (or full-time equivalent). Applicants entering the third year of graduate studies at the time of application must have an overall average of at least A- (or equivalent) on all graduate courses completed. If the master’s or doctoral degree marks used for calculating an applicant’s grade point average (GPA) are not available (for example, courses were graded on a pass-fail basis), then the university’s Graduate Studies Office will use the most recently available undergraduate or graduate marks to calculate a student’s GPA.
  9. Thank you! My last initial is W.
  10. I just got an email acceptance and update on Loris from Laurier about a half hour ago !!! I'm so happy!!!! Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear and congratulations to all who have been accepted!! For those who were not accepted this year, don't give up!!
  11. Still nothing yet on my Loris...ahhh! Congrats to everyone who has been accepted!!
  12. For all those waiting to hear from Laurier, I emailed over to admissions today and this was the reply: "Decisions have been sent over to FGPS for processing. We hope that they will be out sometime next week"
  13. I was thinking of reaching out to them to see if they were still on track to send out admission decisions during the first week of April. I can't take any more weeks of waiting haha!
  14. Congratulations everyone who was accepted to U of T, that's amazing! Now come on Laurier.... Just a friendly reminder once you've made your decision as to what school you will be attending to update the other schools that you were also accepted to....from those of us endlessly waiting on the waitlist haha!
  15. Good luck !
