MMA definitely needs people who can write. The people who are at the top of MMA reporting are generally very poor writers and more importantly, they are worse researchers. If you have a knack for MMA writing, I urge you, as a die hard fan, to try your hand at MMA reporting. You could learn things about writing and researching through an MA in History , but you would gain more marketability from an MA in journalism or something like that. If you aren't ready to leave history behind, find a funded MA program and try your hand at that while at the same time getting a portfolio together for sports writing. Seriously, you are like my soul mate. I am starting a funded MA this fall, but MMA writing is certainly in the back of my mind. Best of luck.

This rejection process seems so random. Is it by last name or something? I am going to get rejected so I just want my cycle to be over already. How many out there are still waiting?

I got my rejection letter from Boston College today. I was offered the consolation MA, but I am pretty sure there aren't any funding opportunities. Congrats to anybody who got into the PhD.

This just happened today. I check every couple of days. The portal has always said that they have my officiall transcript. On the results page last year some people saw this and were later accepted into a couple other programs. I was looking around my portal and it has a new tab for financial aid that wasn't there before. Does it have that on yours?I am pretty sure that those rejects on the results page were supposed to be for BU and not BC. BC doesn't reject anyone that early and they do it by post, not email. I am just waiting it out now. We will see what happens.

So I just checked my application status for Boston College and under the required documents section it said that I need to send in my Final Bachelors Transcript. Does anybody else have this on their Agora Portal? I called the department secretary to ask what that meant and she just told me they had all of my required application materials. I applied for the PhD program, but had given up hope because they usually tell students before now. Have people heard from BC? I am hoping that this means I am accepted, but this might be a consolation MA. It just seems too early for them to have made a decision on that. I would love to go to BC, but I don't want to get too excited yet. Can anybody enlighten me?

What's your field? I have been stressing about Minnesota all week. Now I am scared to death. I feel like I fit so well there. I am going to be heartbroken if I don't get in.

A peer of mine was accepted at Wisconsin to work with Cohen this last week. He just got a letter in the mail and it had no mention of funding. I bet letters are still coming.

Just got rejected. I just randomly checked the my application and my decision was there. It wasn't too much of a surprise. I was hoping that one of my letter writers being an alumnus of the graduate program would be helpful but alas.

I definitely feel that any good news is exciting. I wasn't torn up over Duke at all. The fit was really horrible. Some of my professors encouraged me to apply even though I felt there wasn't much for me there. I have 7 decisions left and I hope I can get some more good news. This acceptance makes it so my wife can attend Duke Medical School should she be admitted in the coming month. This wait has been excruciating with both of us applying. Best of luck to all. It's a long process and I think the waiting will never stop sucking.

I got rejected at Duke today b/c of horrible fit, but I just randomly checked my status for North Carolina State and I was recommended for admission for the MA program. So, at least someone kinda likes me.

I almost started this thread myself. I have gotten 3 of these, 1 approximately every 2 weeks since the deadline for submission. I think this is a way for them to lull you into a false sense of security and then BAM you get an email that slaps you in the face with a rejection. This is what I am expecting anyway. I wish some other schools took the initiative to update you on what they actually have and what they don't. It would make this process a little less complicated. Whatever, Duke is different.

I am too. I would really love Northwestern. One of my letter writers went there over Penn for Early America. I think it would be awesome to study in Chicago and take advantage of all that Northwestern has to offer. Best of luck to everyone.
