  1. I applied to JJ, and haven’t heard anything either. So wondering the same!
  2. Hey guys, I have seen a few people posting about Yale prelims. I know one poster said for ABS you need to get prelim to be considered for interview. I am wondering if that’s true for all POIs? I am especially thinking of JJ
  3. Hey, PhD programs don’t require Masters, however, they require pre-requisite courses and/or GRE psychology (it’s may (not) be exempted due to COVID). As long as you can establish those things masters would not be required. An important thing to establish would be relevant research/clinical experience based on the kind of program you’re applying. While work exp may not be explicitly listed, it would be an unspoken requirement. You can check APA to see list of programs. And you can then check specific programs for specific POIs, research and clinical orientation. Hope that helps
  4. I applied to JJ too. I keep obsessively checking if she is/has been conducting pre-interviews. I also applied to TC and UCLA
  5. Umm..so my academic history is a little unorthodox. I don't have background in psychology. I do have research experience but it is not necessarily relevant to what I want to do now. I feel like I am in the grey zone. How about you?
  6. Hello my fellow applicants, How are you guys managing the crippling anxiety when you see people in your program are starting to hear back? I had my first experience yesterday, when someone posted about a preliminary interview at my top choice. My rational mind knows it may be too early to jump to any conclusions, but I am sure y'all know it feels. So, what are your coping strategies to avoid the overwhelming fear of rejection? Waiting out is truly easier said than done!
  7. I am on the same train. Even though I keep obsessively checking I feel like I won't hear back anything before the first week of January. The anticipation is killing me!
  8. Just happy to be done and anxious about hearing back already How are things for you?
  9. OMG, same here. Looking at the result page flooded with pre-interviews is so daunting
  10. Thanks, that's pretty helpful! If possible, could you share your insight into the research environment at NU and NYU?
  11. Thanks for your input! I precisely applied to these programs because of my interest in the research being done by particular faculty members. My dilemma stems more from a logistics perspective, would it be better to go to BU or NU because they have established PhD Clinical Psychology programs as compared to NYU which does not? Or how much are the academic benefits of living in boston and how instrumental would they be? And if anyone has any experiences with one year masters, I would be interested in knowing how much do they contribute to your CV. From where I stand it seems if I go for 1 year masters, I would be essential aiming for 2020 PhD intake, in that case I would be starting both, university and PhD application at the same time.
  12. Hi, I have been trying to decide which masters program to go for - NYU, Northwestern or Boston University. I want to do PhD Clinical Psychology post-masters so Northwestern seemed like the better option. However, I am still waiting to hear back from them even about the interview and I need to give NYU soon if I am accepting or rejecting the offer. Boston University seems advantageous because of its location, and the presence of an established PhD Clinical Psychology program, as compared to NYU. On the flip side, it is only year degree, making me worry if its enough time to actually learn and better my profile for PhD applications. I am particularly concerned about this decision as I am changing fields, from neuroscience to clinical psychology, and my performance at this level would probably have the highest impact on my future applications. Thank you for taking the time to help me out!
