  1. I am in Waterloo and I got my letter today. I was successful with a score of 27.7, which gave me a SSHRC-CGS. Best of luck to everyone still waiting, and my sincerest condolences to those who got bad news today.
  2. I see that last year SSHRC announced it had mailed the doctoral letters on April 21st. Sigh. Come on, SSHRC! Put us out of our misery already!
  3. Same. My MS Word file is blinking at me accusingly, but I just minimize and refresh GradCafe and my e-mail. Rinse and repeat x1000. I wish I could be productive under this level of anxiety!
  4. Judging by the rapid uptake in responses to this thread, I suspect that people's tensions/anxiety may have reached the boiling point. Gah!! As was said earlier, I realize that this is a competition, but best of luck to all of you.
  5. Yes, exactly. Sooner, if your grad studies department releases the results of the competition by e-mail. I know that last year I was informed of the results of my MA-SSHRC application by e-mail days before I got the letter in the mail.
  6. My friend just informed me that he received the following e-mail from SSHRC: "The doctoral awards competition is still in process. The results of the competition will be in mail by the beginning of next week. If your mailing address has changed, please inform us as soon as possible so that we may keep your file up to date" So it looks as though SSHRC is sticking to their original claim to have the results in the mail by late April. Now here's to hoping that someone in the grad studies department will have mercy on me and e-mail me the results before the letter arrives by snail mail!
  7. When do SSHRC results typically get announced in relation to the FQRSC results? Around the same time? A couple weeks later?
  8. I am going out of my mind with anxiety waiting for the results of the competition. I can't believe that it's only April 17th! I have a sickening feeling that we won't be finding out until May. [cringe]
  9. I just sent an e-mail to SSHRC Fellowships, and I received the following reply: "Good afternoon, Thank you for your email. The Doctoral Awards competition is still in progress. The results of the competition will be mail end of April beginning of May 2012. If your mailing address has changed, please inform us as soon as possible so that we may keep your file up to date." Sigh. I had hoped for an earlier release of tension this year, but it looks like we'll be waiting for at least another week or so.
  10. Hey there! Don't worry, this is perfectly normal. When I saw that my application had mysteriously vanished last year, I had a full-blown panic attack and called SSHRC. They said that once the competition is closed then the "application" is removed from the page. I hope this helps!
  11. I e-mailed my confirmation to SSHRC about a week ago. I got an automatic notification indicating that they got my letter and that it would be answered in the order that it was received, but I never received any other response. Is this normal? I hate to e-mail them again asking about it, since it'll just worsen the backlog of e-mails they have to go through, but I'm paranoid. I really don't want to decline OGS until I get a confirmation e-mail from sshrc.
  12. 2nd Year Masters (Geography) - Successful
  13. I also just got an e-mail from my grad office that I got the SSHRC-MA!! Congratulations on those who've been successful so far, and good luck to those still waiting.
  14. Congratulations! That's fantastic news. I'm just thankful that the wait is almost over.
  15. I haven't heard anything yet either (geography). Now I need to muster up the conviction to give them a call and find out what's the hold up.
  16. No, not in about a week or two. It someone could call and post their response, that would be amazing.
  17. No magic letter for me today (a Masters applicant in Waterloo). Hopefully by the end of week or early next week at the latest! Congratulations to all of the successful applicants. What a relief that all of your hard work paid off and your waiting is over!
  18. Ugh, I hope not. The suspense is driving me insane.
  19. I apologize, I was not clear: I meant to ask whether the applicants were PhD or Masters students? My hope is that the ones finding out are of one category or the other.
  20. Question for the successful applicants: Is your OGS award tenable for a Masters or a PhD program?
  21. Yeah, that's right. OGS doesn't email your results, they only update their website and then send the results via regular post. I read last year that they only update the website over night, but my results for 2010 were posted in the middle of the day, so... it's your call as to whether or not to obsessively check the website.
  22. I haven't gotten an update yet either. Well, now I'll start checking it (even more) obsessively. Congratulations!
  23. There is so much contradictory information involved with this process. I've heard that decisions are made over reading break, that decisions are made up to and including the middle of April, and that decisions are made from January to March. I realize that it is year-specific, but would it be so hard to provide a rough guideline under the FAQ page to prevent all of this needless anxiety? I swear, someone somewhere must have gotten SSHRC grant to study human behavior under extreme duress and this was their proposed methodology.
