  1. I think that's it....agree it seems odd. Have you emailed yet, and if so, have you heard back from SSHRC yet? I'm curious if anyone is requesting a change to their institution of tenure. If so, have you sent the "request for first installment" form to your new institution so that you can confirm the change in place of tenure with SSHRC...? Any help on this would be much appreciated! Thanks!
  2. Received letter-mail today (Burnaby). 18/20, CGS. Brown envelope, very thin.
  3. Same boat! No mail, know I got it, but would like to complete my award initiation form, know my score, etc. Has anyone in Vancouver or Burnaby received letter mail yet?
  4. Has anyone in Canada who applied through their institution received letter mail yet?
  5. Yeah - me too, haha. No idea about the scores until this forum. Wait and see, I guess ?
  6. Wow! Congrats on your award!! Out of curiosity, did you get a score?
  7. Curious if others who won CGS would consider sharing their research contributions? (Myself [offered CGS] - one first author publication; 2 papers under review [one first author, one sole-author]; 5 presentations).
  8. No scoring details or anything yet.
  9. Thank you!! ? My institution is SFU. Nothing via letter-mail yet. They stated in their email that "letters are on their way". Best of luck to everyone!!
  10. WOAH!! I am in SHOCK!! just received notification from my institution that I received the CGS-D! First-time applicant, currently completing my MA.
  11. The system is cruel and bizarre!! And I believe they could totally release on a set date if they decided to. The SSHRC CGS-M (MA) competition, for example, reliably releases results to candidates online on April 1 annually. And the MA competition has even more layers of bureaucracy/headaches, as the applications are adjudicated by diverse committees at every institution across Canada (when I applied, MA applicants could even specify up to 5 possible institutions at which to hold the award, so the same application could've been adjudicated multiple times). If SSHRC can coordinate that and reliably release results online every April 1, I don't know why the doctoral competition should be any different....
  12. Another point on the interminable waiting (and the potential benefits of a set annual day for results): I am totally getting nothing done on the actual work I'm supposed to be doing as a 'productive scholar'....literally haven't written anything in the past week. If I knew exactly when the results were coming, I'd have 2 thesis chapters done by now! :(
  13. For those still obsessing about hearing the results release today....? Even though SSHRC still hasn't tweeted about the results being mailed, I'd say there's still an excellent chance of finding out the results today/early tomorrow. According to SSHRC's "Service standards" (see below), they aim to release results to institutions on or before the last day of the month (i.e., today), and they aim to meet this service standard 95% of the time. They also publish their stats on meeting these targets here: http://www.sshrc-crsh.gc.ca/funding-financement/service/annual_results-rendement_annuel-eng.aspx Their track record on notifying institutions on or before the last day of the month is really good (they meet the target 95% of the time +, but their success in sending out letter mail to applicants isn't as great). Anyway, really hoping institutions hear today and we get email notifications today or early tomorrow. ?
  14. Gah! SSHRC finally tweets after days of silence and it's STILL not about the doctoral competition!! ?
  15. This is a bit off-topic.... I'm wondering about fulfilling the conditions of admission from the school whose PhD program offer I accepted (University of Toronto). Since I'm currently completing my MA, my degree won't actually officially be conferred until October. Is it pretty standard practice to just email one's upcoming PhD program and let them know that, although you won't be able to provide an official transcript showing degree conferral, you can provide a statement (from the registrar) stating that your degree requirements are complete, but your degree just hasn't officially been conferred yet?? I would love to know if any one else is in the situation. Thanks.
  16. Thanks! Good to know that you have something similar. Given the timeline, it makes sense that it was just the initiation of the application. Yeah - makes sense that they would just initiate an application for all of the contestants so they can issue the results online when they hear from SSHRC.... Fingers crossed for finding out Monday!
  17. Has anyone checked their online awards profile through their institution? I just checked mine and saw that a doctoral SSHRC award was 'initiated' in my account approx. 1 week ago.... I have no idea what this means... I'm wondering if a work around of waiting for institutions to email results is to just check our awards accounts? Although I'm really curious about the date that the doctoral award was 'initiated' in my account. 10+ days ago seems too early for even institutions to have had access to competition results....
