  1. Interesting, I should definitely look into that @polysciguy88. I think they recommend banking your current fellowship/putting it on hold. But this would be much better...also, in terms of how many were awarded, here's what my letter said: "Among the 2584 applications reviewed by selection committees, SSHRC is able to offer 1056 awards, given the funds available. Your score in the competition was 15.40/ 20."
  2. Checked the portal this morning after I saw people posting here that it was updated with no email. Got the SSHRC and in total shock!!! The letter was posted in my extranet account at 10AM (and I got instructions for how to log in yesterday at around 2). I'm a direct applicant studying in the U.S, committee 2 (I think). I was rejected last year but think the difference this year was that I had more fellowships under my belt and a much tighter proposal. Also, I noticed on their award results website that students rarely get it in their second years of the PhD, but more often in the 1 or 3rd year. This makes sense because by the 1 year they expect less grounded "here's what I'm doing and how I'll do it," and by the 3rd year, you tend to have that. Whereas the 2nd year is a sort of floating year when your project is shaky but you've been studying for a while... Anyways, congratulations to those who got it, and good luck to everyone else! This is a huge weight off, even though it amounts to roughly one year of funding the U.S. after the exchange rate/cost of living is factored in. Probably will be in shock for the next few days
  3. A bit confusing that they tweeted about mailing the results on the exact same day
  4. Here is the email they sent me on April 14th:
  5. I emailed SSHRC about an address change and they informed me that decision letters will be emailed this year. I can’t believe SSHRC is finally going fully digital! It’s like the last dinosaur of all the grants
  6. Hey everyone, bummer to be strung along like this. I was waitlisted with a 12/20, presumably committee 2 because it was a history proposal/I'm a history student, but can't remember what I chose (direct applicant at a U.S school, first time applying--my letter just said "mutlidisciplinary committee" like some others here). Friends of mine in the past have said it was possible to email SSHRC for your position on the waitlist; I guess they're not providing that information anymore?
  7. congrats to those who received the award! just got my letter and was waitlisted for the SSHRC doctoral award with a score of 12/20. Not sure what committee (it doesn’t say so on my letter). first time direct applicant at a phd program in the states. guess I’ll try again next year—as far as I understand it, getting off the waitlist is highly unlikely... ps. i’m in history so I assume that’s what committee I was in?
  8. hey all, direct applicant here—do any of you know when we can expect to receive results in the states? you think sshrc will let us know if we email directly? wishing everyone luck ?
