Also "recommended but not funded." Heard back from from an email sent to grad studies at my university. Too late today for me to call SSHRC but I may do that tomorrow to get more details about where I sit on the waitlist (if that's what this means). I had interpreted the response as an outright "no" so now I'm more confused than when I thought I was turned down. /sigh/ Guess I'll continue the job hunt...

I've emailed my grad studies department in hopes that they've heard something. I'm hoping that by the time I hear from SSHRC my program will still want me. Waiting is hard. It's been something else watching the number of readers of this forum grow over the past few weeks. It's gone from 1 or 2 a month ago to 48 as I write this. Welcome all!

Just wanted to add to the list: I got my results (successful) on April 14th for Humanities PhD. Still waiting to hear from SSHRC of course...

I had an MA SSHRC two years ago and the envelope was letter-sized, skinny with a single sheet of paper inside (folded in thirds). Also, I got my letter before my department let me know, but it's possible the grad studies department knew beforehand and it took a few days for the information to trickle out. If I get a doctoral SSHRC I don't think I'll be celebrating exactly. If I get it, I'll have to decide whether or not to accept, decline, or defer because I have a complicated family situation -- but then again, who doesn't?
