  1. It's super disappointing but don't give up hope - I applied 3 times before being successful this year! It's brutal to go through the process again, but as long as you're eligible, keep applying. Good luck!
  2. In my case, I'm an external applicant as well and I received the email yesterday with extranet access. I never received another email but my award showed up this afternoon on the extranet page.
  3. You might be already doing this but I would check the extranet site directly. I'm also external applicant, received the email yesterday with extranet access, and never received another email but my award showed up this afternoon on the extranet page.
  4. Yes, if you're eligible, I would definitely apply - even though I know it's such a pain to go through the process again. I applied in my 3rd year and will have funding for my 4th and 5th years.
  5. To encourage you, I am also direct applicant, at a US school. I was rejected first year, waitlisted second, rejected third and successful on my 4th (this year). I know it's such a pain to keep applying, but it's worth it.
  6. To encourage you, I applied 3 years in a row and just found out I was success this time. I hated getting the rejections and partly because I dreaded having to do the resubmitting. But, don't give up!
  7. Direct applicant here - received extranet password yesterday and news today through extranet that I've been awarded a SSHRC (never received an email other than initial 2 with info/password). Just want to encourage anyone who does not end up receiving one this year - don't give up!!! I applied and was rejected 3 times (pre-PhD, Year 1, Year 2) before a successful application in Year 3. I really thought the ship had sailed for me, but grateful for the funding for Year 4 (and Year 5, if I decide to take it).
  8. I'm not sure either. I can see some shifting year to year, but going down by 6 points when my publications/conference presentations have improved and my proposal really hasn't changed significantly really doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. I had hoped I would have strengthened my score enough through the publications/presentations to win this year, but no suck luck it seems like.
  9. Thanks for letting me know. I've sent them an email because last year when I was waitlisted I was able to find out the breakdown of my scores (between the two reviewers) and my ranking. I'm hoping that might shed some light. Sorry to hear that happened to you too but it helps to not be the only one!
  10. Hi everyone, Congrats to those that have received SSHRC. I just found out that I didn't get it - 3rd time applicant external applicant here (US school). First time, didn't make it to national competition, last year I was waitlisted with a score of 12.25 and this year my score is 6.5, so obviously not even waitlisted. I'm not sure how it's even possible for my score to drop my almost half when my proposal has not changed that much, and I've added publications/conference presentations. I selected the same committee as well. Has anyone had a similar experience? Any thoughts appreciated.
