From what I've seen, sometimes admission decisions are spread out over days or even weeks. So we might still have a chance.

Do you know when they're going to release decisions? I was hoping that it being their first year would mean it would be pretty early.

Not yet.

It really has!! I'm anxiously waiting for decision time to come around. Only a couple more weeks.

I think Lehigh's is funded, but I have yet to encounter any of their grads while looking at grad students at top schools. I have seen MAPPS grads throughout.

Thank your advice socchi92! I'll look at the placement history of the faculty. WashU and Princeton are the only programs, among those with faculty doing similar work, that would offer me funding without requiring TAing. Perhaps they are compensating for their perceived riskiness through funding. I do wonder how long they'll continue to offer such great funding.

Hello all! I'm very interested in pursuing a Sociology PHD program, but because of the tough job market would want to attend only a top 20 program. I have an anthropology degree from UCLA with a 3.0 GPA. Later I went to a top 20 Law School and graduated with a 3.4 GPA. On my GRE I got a 170 V, 148 Q, and 5.5 Writing. I've submitted one article for review and am working on another. I hope that they would be both ready by the time I apply. My concern is that despite protestations that all aspects of an application are considered, my low undergraduate GPA and low quant score will derail my application. I'm mostly interested in how the interactions between legal and popular conceptions of race interact. Particularly when they are in conflict. I'm also interested in doing ethnography of non-religious groups. I don't think this would be heavily quantitive.
