  1. Thanks! It was via email - an email saying that there was an update on the portal. I got a message on the portal yesterday from the overall Berkeley grad school department. Then today I got an email from the school of social welfare. I think they are quite early in the process though.. They gave me no money though. I probably going to end up in Columbia
  2. I just got my acceptance to UC Berkeley!! I honestly thought this was a school I would definitely be rejected from, so it came as a huge surprise. I was wondering if folx have an option UC Berkeley versus Columbia? I am waiting for aid from Berkeley, but got $18k per year at Columbia + Work Study. But now I am conflicted between the programs.
  3. ^^ not sure what happened there. To folx who are appealing financial aid from Columbia, how did you do it? What does it look like?
  4. I got into Columbia today and NYU (with $12k) last week It has been an exciting few days. I am still trying to really figure out how everything will work out - financially (and otherwise) if I end up going to a high cost school in a high cost city. P.S. : To folks waiting to hear from Columbia and feel like they are losing hope, try your best not to. I actually emailed them on Monday and was like "hey, I am really anxious, I know people have been hearing back and I still haven't." and their response was essentially that there isn't a deeper meaning behind why someone hasn't heard back yet but rather that they just haven't gotten to the application yet. Your anxiety and feelings are completely valid, but I just wanted to say, if you feel like your hope is thinning away try to hold on to it! P.P.S: I just read somewhere on the thread, probably multiple times now, that people are feeling pretty meh about the whole process and also about getting rejections. I just want to remind you that graduate school and the education system overall is quite elitist & somewhat rooted in privilege & ableism -- accomplishments listed on your resume like unpaid internships or study abroad or other achievements are also given weight and not everyone can afford to do it. I know we are applying for a degree in Social Work and I genuinely hope that all in the admissions committee of various schools understand that there is underlying privilege in many requirements that they might give weight to. Just a reminder, it is not YOU, it is the system & you deserve better ❤️
  5. Same! I am getting a little less anxious knowing that SO many folx who applied for the clinical track, haven't heard back from Columbia yet. Sending positivity to everyone in the same boat
  6. Assuming no one has heard from CU on 1/31 yet?
  7. Just FYI - I have friends who are currently going to CU (they started Fall 2019) and they both got their acceptances Feb 11 and Feb 18 2019 respectively(they applied for the priority deadline) and said that people they knew got acceptances all over the place between Jan, Feb & even later... so I don't think we need to panic right now at all
  8. Thanks! Okay, same Fingers crossed we hear back soon!
  9. Thanks! I found it RIGHT after I made this...
  10. What programs are folx here applying to? Advanced Standing or the Two-Year for CU? I applied Dec 1 and got my completed app email from them only on Dec 19??! Unlike most of you who got the completion email on Dec 12. So I wonder whether it has something to do with the program? I got the acceptance call for UMich last Thursday (yay!) , but I had emailed admissions about questions and they never got back to me... but I guess they are just backed up.
  11. Got the email for the fellowship as well , totally thought it was an indication for an acceptance, but the fellowship doesn't match at all with my profile of interest. So, probably a mass email.
  12. I can't find a thread for different MSW program applications for Fall 2020 -- thought I'd start one! Where have you applied?
