  1. I heard back Jan 24 and applied mid November!
  2. I applied to Rutgers back in early November and did hear back early Dec, for the two year traditional program. I recently declined my attendance there (last week), as I’m now confirmed at CU. But hope you hear back soon!
  3. You could totally get more money from CU. So definitely appeal there. I’ve done it. Im not sure about Umich personally, as I didn’t try there, but seems like lots of people are saying they were able to be successful from it. If UChicago is giving you the most, how come you don’t consider that program first? I guess how important is the scholarship amount to determine what program you end up choosing? Also - even if smith didn’t offer anything initially, it’s worth trying if you have competing offers. I believe they would definitely give you a scholarship if they are seeing offers from all the other great schools.
  4. yay! I’m sure you did great, you seem like a real down to earth person!!
  5. Don't be - I have heard such great things. It's more of a conversation than an interview, so just be passionate yourself and calm.
  6. You could mention their Global Human Rights Certificate Program, and how it could provide a cross-cultural perspective on human right issues internationally. Also the courses within the program offered have focus on immigration, international social work in the global south, racism, etc. https://www.sp2.upenn.edu/academics/certificate-programs-specializations/msw/global-human-rights-certificate/
  7. So there is a link that the FASFA team provided me, it is connected to your application. Step 1: Email : cssw-admit@columbia.edu asking how you can submit a scholarship reconsideration form. I believe this is only likely to work if you have competing offers from other schools. Step 2: They provide you with a link to submit your appeal. Step 3: Answer this question: "Please provide a detailed explanation for requesting increased financial assistance" Break down the amount you were offered from CU, how much excess you will need to take out in loans for tuition, books, cost of living, and any other related expense you have to cover while in grad school. If you are quitting a full time job, explain how you will lose your income and how you are planning to pay for the program and what you need help with. Explain any competing offers, and how you want to attend this program but would need "xxx" amount to finalize your decision. Be specific and honest on how much you are looking for if you know the amount it will take for you to commit to the program. ***Lastly I do not encourage submitting an appeal unless you are seriously considering attending the program, as this could effect other serious candidates from losing out on scholarship aid, there are others still waiting to hear back on their admissions decision.**** The process does take 1-2 weeks. Step 4: Attach your competing scholarship offer. @basw @simonsays @amb22
  8. I filled out the scholarship reconsideration form at Columbia and received alottttttt more in awards for the entire program. If you have a competing offer - you should definitely do this at CU if that is the program you see yourself at!
  9. Just remember no response doesn’t mean bad news! I’ve found in my experience the school I got rejected to, I heard back immediately (before acceptances even went out). They may even have a different process for candidates that are still in UG, I’ve read somewhere that the spots are a lot more limited for those incoming students. But do not fret! Like someone else mentioned - people don’t post rejections, so it looks like everyone’s getting in, but very skewed. I Think having positive vibes helps a lot! Especially when having your patience tested. But do not let grad programs determine your self worth, especially when it’s 1-2 people assessing your profile. You do not need an acceptance from a special program to validate you are valuable to social work. Anyone willing to choose to help people, is worthy. Plain and simple. You got this!
  10. The email straight to me - I didn’t even check the portal. I crossed it off a while ago, so I forgot about it haha.
  11. For all of you guys going crazy about BU! I just heard back a few minutes ago via email - I was waitlisted. Haha interesting how I received a great scholarship to CU - but waitlisted at BU. Anywho just wanted to share my decision! Good luck to all of you still waiting for BU.
  12. Yes - I got the email the next day after being accepted - before I submitted my depoist.
  13. Guys I am so sorry about the glitches- that is so BRUTAL. I am rooting for y'all and cant wait to see some of you this fall! And just an FYI - I found out that if you have a higher competing scholarship offer from another school, Columbia will reconsider your award package to try and match it!
  14. One week after acceptance - mine was in my spam folder!
  15. I think you still have a very good chance to get in if you got wait listed. Most people end up declining their spot at CU after reviewing tuition costs and a lot more open up. Could you ask what spot you are on the wait list? I am not sure that information would help at this point, unless you ask for a re-review - however not sure if they would or not. I have heard in the past those who have got wait listed and received a date by when they would hear back by are pretty high on the wait list and typically have got in. As far as meeting them - You should call closer to your trip and see if you could schedule a visit with a contact, so at least you definitely could see the campus. Good Luck!!!! I am sure spots will open up!
  16. The day of - I think for me within the hour.
  17. Yes- those loans are universal across grad school. And in my case, if I am going to utilize them, might as well go to my dream school! Yes, other schools typically offer a scholarship amount separately from loans. Awe. Was Penn Generous, I haven't seen many post about their scholarships amount. Also, I kind of went into the mindset that I wouldn't get any scholarship funding for grad school, so anything offered is great!
  18. That is awesome! Thank you so much for the offer - I will be PM you later today with some specific questions!!
  19. Submitted my deposit to CU!!!!! So extremely excited and hope to meet some of you this fall! If anyone has any suggestions on housing options, please let me know!!
  20. We received a link to find all that information and start our admissions process (field work, housing, email set up,etc). There is an entire long checklist. Orientation is: August 31 - September 4, 2020. However, I did not see a specific students admitted day.
