  1. The final year average is calculated by either taking in your CGPA (if that's better than your final year), or selecting the best 3rd or 4th year courses from any of your years (so not necessarily your last 10). The credit load (of the courses being selected) would have to total to a full year.
  2. Nice! Wish that had worked for me. I asked them if they had a timeline as well but I received the generic copy-pasted response that others here have received. I am anxious, because I need to respond to other offers. I applied by the early deadline hoping to have my application processed before April. I thought they’d process them in the order they had received them ... but that doesn’t seem to the case, which is a bummer. Hoping I hear back from them soon ?, because I have to make a decision soon.
  3. From my understanding, international students create their own seats (that is why they pay the full amount) whereas domestic applicants compete for a certain number of seats that are funded publicly (which is why they pay less for school).
  4. I applied on January 23rd and mine still says “documents received.” Maybe they are forgetting to change them to “under review” for everyone? I have noticed some people who applied later than me have had their app changed to “under review,” so I’m not sure if they’re checking applications in the order that they’ve received them. Wish they’d give us more clarity on their process ... Hoping to have it changed to “under review” soon, because I have some other offers I need to respond to before the end of April ... Good luck! Is anyone else’s application still saying “documents received”?
  5. Interesting. That's to be expected. From what I've heard, all programs this year across the board having a greater amount of applicants, apparently. This year is competitive in general for most programs. People are attempting to change their career due to the economic impact COVID-19 has caused. We saw something similar happen during the recession. More people go to graduate school during recessions/economically turbulent times. Here's a link about how grad school applications are soaring right now: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/london/grad-school-applications-covid-1.5914766 It's not just the MI program that's experiencing this! In regards to there being more international applicants for the MI program, the good thing is that if there are more international applicants, it doesn't affect the amount of seats available for domestic applicants, as international applicants create their own seats. Getting into the program (if you are an international applicant) should be less competitive due to this. I'm guessing with things being remote this year, we are seeing a greater influx of international applicants.
  6. Sorry to hear that. That must have been a frustrating. Know that you're not the only one in this situation, though! That's annoying. If it changes to 'under review' in March, then that would mean we wouldn't get a response until perhaps April, or even the end of April. I would have expected it to change 'under review' by now. I already have some offers from other universities by now, and I have until May 1st to decide. Hopefully, UofT can get in touch with me before then about the status of my application. Judging from this thread, many applicants seem to be in a similar predicament. I wouldn't be too worried about it. I guess COVID and the lockdown may possibly be making the admissions team more inefficient at going through the applications. I just emailed the admissions office too. Let's see what they say! Good luck! Hang in there.
  7. Yeah, it's frustrating how they aren't reviewing applications in the order that they were submitted. Mine still says 'documents received.' I submitted my application on Jan 23rd. I have offers from other universities. I'm not why UofT is taking such an unbearably long time. Their process seems a bit disorganized... they're not being very transparent, I agree. Did you end up emailing Andrea or the admissions office?
  8. Yeah, mine still says 'doc received' even though I submitted it about a month ago (Jan 23rd). Hang in there, guys!
  9. Yes, there's a lot of international applicants this year. I am guessing it's because courses are being offered online due to COVID-19. Not sure how this will affect the application process. Did you ask them to come at a faster decision for you?
  10. Hey! I submitted a day after you (January 23rd). My status is similar to yours, i.e., "Documents Received (excl. official transcripts)." Has yours changed since you last posted to "Under Review"? I think they are first going through the applications of international applicants, as they would have to apply for students visas, etc. possibly. I am a domestic applicant, so perhaps that's why it is still under "Documents Received" despite applying earlier than some international applicants, who have had their status changed to "Under Review," or have been accepted into the program. It mentions on their website that they have more international applicants than usual this year. I am guessing people abroad are taking advantage of courses being offered online due to COVID-19. My friend, for example, is living in Toronto but she's studying at a British university this year, haha. But, I think they have the same amount of domestic applicants. Good luck!
  11. Thanks for the suggestions! I will try to get ahold of my professor, so that she can give me some suggestions. I am not sure if she would like to be a co-author, as my lit review is a bit outside her area of expertise.
  12. Hi everyone! I recently attained my bachelors degree in psychology, and I am interested in pursuing graduate school. During my undergraduate years, I focused mostly on acquiring good grades. I have minimal research experience. I currently volunteer at a cognitive-behavioural lab at Schulich (a business school in Canada) that focuses on consumer behaviour. I am interested in both consumer psychology and clinical psychology. I am hoping to apply to some clinical psych labs. There are two clinical psych labs in my area that I'd like to volunteer in, as they both focus on my interests: BPD and emotional dysregulation Unfortunately, I haven't been able to present any posters or publish anything so far. I am in the midst of publishing a literature review that I had written in which I compared two therapy modalities for the treatment of BPD. My professor said it was well written and that I should consider publishing it. What are some ways I can do this? Also, how can I go about finding opportunities in which I can do poster presentations? Is working at a lab for a lengthy period of time going to help me eventually find those opportunities? I've been working at a lab where I am doing entry level work and I can't seem to do anything more research intensive. I'm also wondering if I can present my own research by singing up at conferences or if I have to be enrolled in school? Thank you!
