My stats were mediocre to be honest. I have a decent GPA but I did get B+ in some critical science courses and my GRE was not competitive (although I only sent it to Caltech and MIT)

At the end of the day what stood out can only be determined by the committee, but I would say it was my research experience that would have stood out and I think I effectively conveyed my passion for science through my PS. For the schools I cared most about, I also just made a sincere effort to get my name out there at conferences and such with faculty. I also skype interviewed several PIs at my top schools before applying.

YouTube would be fun, lol. I am just really grateful to have the opportunities I do and have the stellar mentors I have.

Nice, I think you did it the right way. I think being able to show maturity and passion are the most important part, and having a research experience that enhance it makes you a great candidate. Also, I didnt applied to many schools this year because I couldnt reach out many PIs. As an international student, if it is not crucial, it is very helpful.

Thank you both! Good to know! I did not receive a rejection nor an invitation...does this mean a rejection is imminent?

Does anyone know about Colorado-Boulder (Behavioral Neuro), by the way?

I think so. I didnt received the rejection too (from Princeton), but by how it was in the last years seems that is the sign heheh.

I did receive one from Princeton Neuroscience. GPA 3.4, GRE 160/170/3.5, have a BSc outside US this summer, two first author manuscripts, two in preparation.  Worked on a very relevant topic with a PI’s work.

If anyone knows how many invitations this program send each year? Thanks in advance.

Nice!! Congrats! I would love to talk more in details about your profile any time if you dont mind. I didnt get the interview, but I would like to figure it out if I had any chance next year.

I only had one manuscript in preparation, but 3 other co-authorship publications (1 conference paper). 3.4 gpa undergrad, 4.0 Master. Relevant work to a PI, but maybe If I had my manuscript on biorxiv, it would help to show it. I had strong LORs, but a old PI manage to mess up with a letter ?

Still, please let me know if you would like to chat a little bit. Congrats again! :)

Does anyone know if Wisconsin-Madison does invites in waves, or all at once? What about Princeton or Dartmouth?

I think Princeton already sent all the invitation.

If is there any international student that got an interview from Princeton, please let me know. I would like to know a little bit more about your profile.

Haha good luck! I guess I might be waiting for rejection now.

Just curious - for Princeton applicants, are you intended for computational/theoretical work? Or lab work?

I wanted to work with PIs that have kind of good balance between the two. I came from a biomedical background, but had good exposure to theoretical work and enjoy both.

Research throughout undergrad and a postbacc position for a year at a different institution. Three strong LORs from PIs. 0 pubs, 1 poster, 1 talk. 3.5 major GPA in neuro. I submitted my application the day of the deadline, haha...

hahaha me too, submitted at the day of the deadline too. Did they tell you when the interviews are going to happen?
