  1. Actually I just checked the decisions board and there's an interview from Notre Dame dated today, so I guess they're out?
  2. I don't believe they have, but in previous years they've sent out interview emails between the 15th and somewhere around the 20th of January. Hang in there!
  3. I don't believe they have formal interviews, but I might be mistaken. And after (obsessively) trolling past decision dates, UMass Amherst start sending out acceptances by the second week of February usually.
  4. I'm honestly relieved that I'm not the only one going through this agony alone. I hope we all hear some good news by the time this application season is over!
  5. Yes! I get it 100%. I've read snippets of Orientalism here and there, but keep beating myself up for not finishing it while rewatching Masterchef and making pasta. I haven't thought of using a countdown, but I'll try anything at this point.
  6. Yh I hope so, I have a list of the universities with their approximate decision dates based on previous years, but I'm just getting so impatient (I know I should practice patience and worrying won't help or rush the process, but I'm naturally an anxious person and so I just always have my email open now) (Also, does anyone wake up in the middle of the night and randomly check their emails even though there are no notifications? I'm trying to convince myself that this level of worrying is normal...).
  7. I'm honestly going crazy here not hearing any news whatsoever about the applications. I can't even focus to work on my thesis I wouldn't even mind getting a rejection at this point, just any kind of news to keep me going.
  8. Congrats to everyone! Great start already. Should I take it as an indirect rejection if I didn't get an interview? :p
  9. Anyone got the email from Chicago saying they've started reviewing applications?
  10. Anyone who submitted to Harvard doesn't have their writing samples showing up on the portal checklist? I'm slightly panicking and contemplating contacting the graduate department to make sure they got them.
  11. So my anxiety has reached a new level where I just emailed the profesoor I'd like to work with at one of the more prestigious universities I've applied to just to introduce myself... Should I consider this an implied rejection? :p
  12. That is quite hopeful to hear. I've already done everything I can anyway, all any of us can do is wait and see, I suppose.
  13. Thank you so much, you're the first person I've talked to who's actually been through the process. I did both my BS and am currently finishing my MA in Lebanon and have never been to the States, so the application process has been a bit of whirlwind. All my professors are either American, British or Australian so couldn't give me approximations of the likelihood colleges might admit students who are non-Native English speakers or if there might be any bans for students from the Middle East. Good luck to you though, hopefully we'll both hear some good news.
  14. Hello everyone! I never thought I could find a forum like this where I could suffer the pain of waiting for decisions with other people! I've submitted most of my applications with a couple still due in January. I just wanted to ask if anyone could clarify what independent research might include for universities? Also, if anyone knows the percentage or approximation of how many international students might be admitted to US programs. The percentage seems quite low which has weakened my hope in actually getting accepted anywhere.
