  1. After long deliberation, I accepted SFU’s offer and declined UofA’s offer for the Health Policy and Management stream. Good luck to everyone!
  2. Hi! UBC was my third choice. I am interested in a career in health policy and have an interest in evaluation. The UBC program is very quantitative based, and although this would be beneficial for a career in evaluation, it would be not prepare me for an entry-level job into policy. I also don’t have a lot of quantitative experience and I didn’t want to take a chance with the program in the case that I found the focus on quantitative not very interesting or it is too difficult. I also found that the UBC program has limited courses focused on different areas of public health and I wouldn’t have the opportunity to gain a strong theoretical base in public health. Also, UBC does not have a capstone project requirement. I prefer a program that has a capstone because it will provide me with additional practical experience.
  3. I also received an acceptance letter from SFU today! I am super excited! Now I just need to decide between SFU and UofA health policy and management program in the next two weeks. I am rejecting the UBC offer. So if you are on the waiting list, I hope you are sent an offer.
  4. Hi, A fellow SFU applicant here. I emailed SFU couple of weeks ago and the email I received from them early last week said they will contact applicants towards the end of March/early April. Fingers crossed that they are still on track to do this and not behind due to the covid-19 situation.
  5. I heard back and they said they will contact applicants toward the end of March/beginning of April. I wish we had more time to respond to the UBC offer.
  6. Thanks for phoning them! I emailed on the weekend and I did not hear back. I'm eagerly checking my email all the time haha.
  7. I know a few people have said that they do rolling acceptance based on when you submitted your application but I don't think that is correct. I submitted my application in December and I got accepted, and I have seen few posts similar to my experience. I think they do rolling acceptance in the sense that they send out offers to their first choices and then based on the number of offer acceptances, they send out another batch of offers. They probably rank the applications for each stream, and then send out the offers based on this. Also, I am sure that they are still reviewing applications for certain streams, such as health promotion, which is why some of you may have not heard from them yet. These are just my thoughts!
  8. I received my acceptance from UBC yesterday! I am still waiting to hear from SFU. My top two choices are UAlberta (already accepted) and SFU. However, I am still considering UBC at this point. I am hoping we hear from SFU soon! Does anyone know when/how they notify applicants of their decision?
  9. Hi everyone! I just received my acceptance to the UofA's MPH Health Policy and Management program! I also applied to UBC and SFU so hopefully we hear from them soon.
  10. I am also curious about when admission offers go out. I applied to the Health Policy and Management specialization at UAlberta. Did anyone else apply to this specialization?
  11. Nope! My status is still "decision pending."
  12. Hi, I also applied to UBC! Based on their 2018 admission statistics, there were 305 applications, 52 offers, and 26 new registrants (https://www.grad.ubc.ca/prospective-students/graduate-degree-programs/master-of-public-health).
