Sort of? I ended up waitlisted at Wilfrid Laurier because of their limited funding for graduate students, and Portland State deferred my acceptance to 2021 because of COVID-19. I'm not sure what will happen still, which feels about par for the course for the general uncertainty in the air these days.

I got a similar response: increase work experience, better proposal. I'm not surprised -- I know funding can be slim for international students -- but rejection still isn't fun.

Did anyone else apply to any programs in Canada? I am dyyyyying waiting for them to get back to me, and it's hard to respond to the US schools when I still don't know what's going on with about half my apps.

Well, now that I'm waiting to hear back and obsessively checking this forum, I figured I might as well say hi. I applied to five schools (UW, PSU, BU, UoT, and Wilfrid Laurier) this cycle. I'm not sure how successful I'll be -- my GRE scores are good, and I've got research experience and good LoRs, but no publications and I'm not terribly confident about my writing sample (which feels ridiculous to say, given that it's the part of my application I have the most control over). But we'll see! Sending good thoughts to everyone else waiting! Glad we're at least in this version of purgatory together? ;)
