  1. Tyler painting is holding interviews this weekend. Another poster had an interview with Tyler's Ceramics department a couple weeks ago. (I had a great conversation with the Painting faculty today! It seems like a fantastic program.)
  2. Hi @Painfullywaiting, I'm wondering how your interview with Tyler went. I have an interview for the Tyler Painting department scheduled for next weekend. I know you interviewed with a different department, but I'm curious to know about your experience. What questions did they ask? Thanks!
  3. Painting - I saw some folks say they got interviews for painting specifically, so I figured the "they haven't gotten to interview invites for my concentration" theory is shot.
  4. Did anyone who applied to Hunter get a rejection email? I know some folks got interview emails, but in past years they have sent out rejections the same day or the day after interview invitations. I still haven't heard anything. I'm guessing that means I'm not going to get an interview, but I was wondering if anyone had seen any rejections come through their email yet. Thanks!
  5. Based on the MFA Freak Out forums from the past couple years, I think Hunter usually sends out a first wave of rejection emails sometime between February 5th and 10th, and then they send out interview requests sometime between February 10th and 15th. I think interviews are conducted in early March. (I also read in the forum from a couple years back that, if you are asked to interview, they might ask you to bring printouts of your submitted portfolio (8 x 10" max), and an optional additional 10 printouts of artwork you've made in recent months.)
  6. Thank you for the thoughtful response! I hope you find a program that works better for you. I'm sad to hear about the issues with racism, since it seemed like a pretty diverse student group and faculty based on the program's student and faculty directory. Thanks again!
  7. Hi Yungcoconut! I moved to NYC this past June and applied to Hunter's MFA program (in painting.) It's actually the only program that I decided to apply for - I liked the studio when I toured in October, and I specifically like the 3-year length of the program. (Not only would that allow me to work part time, but I would also have a studio space for three years.) I'm also very interested in the Graduate Certificate in Curatorial Studies that can be taken along with the MFA degree. I also liked the work of several of the painting and sculpture faculty a lot, and thought they would be good mentors. Out of all the programs in NYC (where my life is right now, so I can't move to another city for an MFA) it's the only one I'm interesting in attending. Can you tell me about your experience? Why do you say the program is flawed? Thank you so much! www.patriciakalidonis.com
