LOL @ Columbia for sending me a rejection letter today (got waitlisted in February) a week after I moved to Philly for Penn's program. Thanks for the timely update, sis.

I've been quite anxious about this as well. 100% they wouldn't rescind admissions so don't worry about that! The optimist in me thinks that things could at least die down enough by then (but not go away all together) that it wouldn't be impacted, but this is such a wild, unpredictable time so there's no telling where we could be even a month from now. Worst case scenario, I could see them deferring us one year or making us go online. Although my field placement is going to be in corrections so let me know how that's going to work out!!!! For the sake of my mental health I'm just gonna take it a day at a time. My last semester of college got completely derailed, my commencement is most likely getting cancelled, and I had to say goodbye to so many friends so I've had enough to cry about lol I literally just signed on an apartment so I'm going to be moving this summer regardless (hopefully?). Hope y'all are doing alright

Mine was with Casey McGovern and it was just a really nice and casual conversation! She really only asked me about the two summer courses I took and my internships. I was expecting more questions but I have a big mouth so it still took up a decent amount of time. She talked a lot about the program and made me even more excited/hopeful to go there We also talked about what kind of field placements I would be open to doing since I plan on applying for the GRI but that only covers one year. Of course you also have the chance to ask questions at the end. I'm pretty sure it took about 30 minutes. I think most people have also described their Penn interviews as being super laid-back and chill - I really liked how this application process went, especially considering how they notified me less than a week after the interview! Compared to Columbia who took almost 3 months just to waitlist me, that's pretty good LOL Good luck with your interview!!!

Thank you!! I'm definitely going to Penn I was really interested in their GRI program and I've worked in prisons before so it's definitely a fantastic fit for me. Plus I love the Philly area! I visited the campus back in September for an info session and fell in love with the school/program

I'm so sorry to hear this, I got a rejection last week and it's definitely a shitty feeling. As so many people on here have said, graduate admissions can be volatile and aren't often a reflection of you as a candidate. This is incredibly cliche but everything happens for a reason and I know you'll find yourself on the path you were meant to be on all along. Maybe this is irrelevant but I remember getting rejected from my ~*dream school*~ for undergrad and being so unbelievably devastated and thinking I would not be happy anywhere else (we love high school melodrama). I'm finishing up my senior year at a school I hadn't even seriously considered at the time and I cannot imagine spending the last 3.5 years anywhere else. I'm trying to currently use this experience as a reminder that a year from now, I won't even think about the rejections and just be grateful I ended up where I am. Side note: Waiting to hear back from my current ~*dream school*~ so please hold me to this mentality if I get bad news LOL

Got waitlisted as well! My friends and parents (lol) keep insisting it's still impressive considering the prestige of the school so I thought I would pass that on to you

Have my UPenn interview at 4 ahhhh

I'm with ya, girl. Was just complaining to someone about CU and then the second I got off the phone I got my BU rejection so it's been a day! You've gotten into some excellent programs and you should be proud. This process has certainly taken a toll on me as well, feel free to DM me or anything if you need to vent haha
-
rejected from BU ayyyyy!
-
CONGRATS!!!! So happy you finally heard back!
-
I was looking through last year's forum and saw that many people also didn't get into BU while getting accepted to very strong schools - so weird! Congrats again on Columbia
-
I also want to work directly in prisons! The GRI at Penn was such a big selling point for me.
-
Congrats!!! Such an amazing program

So kind of you to post, thanks so much This forum has been both a blessing and a curse, I always remind myself it's such a small sample in the grand scheme of this process.
