Hey y'all! Got into Northwestern yesterday from a call from David T. Got half funding so definitely can't afford it, but it was very reassuring. If anyone is on DRAFT, Jess made a great post about fighting for funding. Don't let the thrill of getting accepted stop you from fighting for what you deserve.

I'd put that compliment on all my social media accounts, IDK!!! XD But you should celebrate how far you've come, this is awesome! I don't act a lot, but this waiting is SO much more heavy than I remember waiting for a callback or casting list lmao

On Friday I got my acceptance into Hunter and last night my rejection (which was the sweetest, kindest email from Naomi!) from UCSD. It's such a weird mix to feel both happy and disappointed. I told myself if I was fortunate enough to get into any program this year I'd go, and Hunter is an amazing program and Christine was so welcoming! But I admit I fell in love with UCSD getting to know it and am debating on trying again next year. I can't tell if it's something I'm trying to make happen or if its actually meant to be. The only real downside to Hunter is that it's in NYC and I've been avoiding that city because between the pace and the cold, I don't know if my depression can handle it (hence what I liked about UCSD amongst other things). Waiting to hear about funding from Hunter and officially hear from Brown, BU, Brooklyn College and Ohio (I did apply to UCLA but haven't heard a thing so it feels like a figment of my imagination lol). I know I'm in a fortunate position to be bitching from, but I'd love some perspective.

OMG that's so sweet!!! Like, I feel honored by association XD I've been scared to look at the other creative threads just cause I could only tolerate the anxiety of one at a time XD Thank you! Hope your process is going well!

What @Coffee&Flowers said, but also feel free to mention you've gotten an offer so they know you need an answer more urgently than others. I heard on DRAFT about Brown, I didn't get an interview either so I'm sitting here like, "Hey, where's my courtesy rejection email?" lol
-
OH SHIT! ConGratulations! I hope you're celebrating your ASS off! This is just another step on the journey. Here's to great things on your path! ❤️
-
Congratulations on making it to the end. It wasn't an easy journey, but take pride that you've gone through it. Glad to hear you're writing again! I'm looking forward to that release, one way or another. Take care, and best of luck for the round!

LOL They must build in fangirling for the first 20 secs of every interview, how can they not XD Did they specify who you'd be talking with?
-
Oh that's so cool! I love every place that's supportive of new work! Hope the festival goes well, keep us updated! @captbaka If you've got the free time and something to submit
-
OH SHIT CONGRATULATIONS! I literally had to stop myself from applying because I just couldn't fathom the loans. BUT YOU GET TO TALK TO LYNN AND/PR HENRY THAT'S EPIC!

As of updates: Someone on the MFA Draft mentioned they got into UC Riverside so those first round of offers have gone out. UCSD has done their 2nd round of interviews and sent out offers. Someone mentioned they got an interview request from Brown, and Yale is interviewing finalists this week

Not sure yet, I was actually thinking about coming up the weekend of the 13th to see some shows! Hot Wing King, Cambodian Rock Band and All the Natalie Portmans are on my list. What are other shows y'all are excited to see the rest of this season? That's awesome! I've also come to peace with a plan I have for any scenerio. I'm sadly not in San Diego (UCSD was the dream school lol) but if y'all are ever interested in long distance collaboration (or to give me an excuse to come to San Diego) I'd love to hear more!

Happy March 1st, y'all! I know the anxiety has been insane, but by the end of this month we'll have a clearer view of our futures, and we can take peace in that. We got this!

Same, I'm emailing with the Grad Office now. I can't tell what I'm missing so I had to send a screenshot to them. Hoping to hear back soon

I assume its connected to their funding to have such a requirement

Thank you @littlered11, @space94 and everyone one else for sharing! This is still my first round, but someone having really low expectations has been really helpful to me. I am planning my life according to not getting into any school. I'm saving money to move to LA by this time next year. I'm looking for dramaturgy and AD gigs into the Fall. It helps to feel like my life isn't on pause because of this which is what the whole application process felt like. Now that it's out of my hands I can focus on what I can control. We're still writers without the MFA, still writers if we don't get in this year or the next. The work still needs to be done. We're lucky that we don't need a program to do what we do, and still have opportunities through low-res programs and fellowships and workshops, etc. Of course these come with their own possible rejections, but we just remember there is always more than one way.

Haven't heard back from either, I'm afraid. But as someone mentioned, BU will probably take a while

I've yet to have the sense to fav this page, so I always see their name in the search. Heaven bless Dampka and what they've done for us the past decade

Sure! It was longer, I want to say 35mins. It was w/ Christine and Greg. Both SUPER nice. Christine mostly ran it while Greg chimed in. It was super chill and I felt relaxed. They asked about my work, where I was from, my experience with workshop, what I liked about the school, how I felt about living in New York etc. I say it wouldn't hurt doing some research before hand on the school, what you like about the program, and about Christine and Greg themselves. Why now?, was another question. Who influences/ inspires your writing? They also spent time selling the school to me, I really appreciated the high likelihood of funding, and all classes are from 5-8pm so you can work during the day. Christine is also really invested in public education. And the integration of the MFA program with the rest of the theatre program was important to them. Sorry, I'm kind of going stream of conscious here lol But all in all it was a positive experience. Just come in with positive energy and they match it. Break legs!

Thanks for the update! I was really curious about how seperate the Michener and T&D programs are. Least I know I can peacefully cross that one off my list.

No word here from either
-
They did ask if I was nearby, so instead we did the Skype interview. I also think I just had the most availability which is why it was so early
-
As was mine, just under 15min

i interviewed w/ Hunter yesterday at 3pm(EST). They said I was their first interview so they're just starting the process
