They did not. I did misspeak, this was 3 years ago, they just graduated. They applied to 3 schools: Columbia, CMU and a 3rd. They got accepted into the other 2 and picked Columbia. I recall they didn't enjoy their interview w/ CMU. Wasnt the right match
I had my phone interview last week with UCSD. No word back yet on making it to the 2nd round of interviews. It would be a SKYPE call w/ the entire Playwriting cohort.
Congratuatulations to all with CMU interviews! Best of luck! I think I saw some recent posts on the MFA DRAFT '20 FB page about interviews and what to expect, etc if that's helpful.
Yeah, I'm thinking people sike themselves out of applying because of the "Yale" title.
On Visitor's Day they said they divide the applicants amongst the reading committee (including Tarell). Each person picks about 2-3 from their stack, leaving Tarell with 20. Then I think he picks who to interview from there.
Thank you so much, @captbaka! The advice and comradery is so helpful. I had stuck to the MFA Draft FB group, but its good to know this is where all the playwrights are lol And I felt the same about my grades as well (almost didn't apply at all because of them) so that is very encouraging to hear. Hope you're having a wonderful time! I met Naomi briefly for the first time and she's so sweet! UCSD just seems to have really nice people
Hi, I just applied the last day of the extension! I'm glad to hear you've had such a positive experience! Have there been any sturggles/ adjustments with the recent change in Heads?
Hi @captbaka ! I just applied and UCSD is a top choice of mine. I'd love to know how you picked your sample and when did year hear back about getting that first interview and flying out?
