  1. That’s the last email I received as well. I mean other than general communications sent out to everyone school-wide. I hope we will hear more soon about orientation, class registration, etc. Do you have your field placement yet?
  2. Hi all, Wondering if anyone has any insight into converting loans into work-study. On one hand, I like the idea of taking out less loans. On the other hand, I worry about finding the time to juggle all the things (internship, school, work, occasionally having a life lol, etc.) My program has class M, Tues, Fri and internship Wed, Thurs. If I accept work study, I would work about 17 hours a week. Logistically, I just don't see how that's possible unless I'm working and going to school the same days and/or working the weekends. Also, my course load would be 15-17 units. My number one priority would be my classes and getting assignments done. I need to figure out if I should accept work-study soon but really feel uninformed on making the decision! Any input would be appreciated
  3. Same. Also it’s passed “early May” -irked as well. I did get my financial aid package yesterday though. I was hoping for something...anything but I just got loans.
  4. I still haven’t been contacted either. I also haven’t had any response to my email and voicemail.
  5. Yeah, you’re right about possibly not having an internship. I’m really curious as to how that will play out. I hope there is a possibility for virtual internships at least. Sounds dreadful but I’d prefer that to nothing at all. I work for a nonprofit providing mental health services to children and youth and we’ve moved towards telehealth during this time. So I think for some placements it would be an option potentially. Thanks for sharing! Not even sure if it’s worth it to move there at all during this whole thing if everything will be virtual anyways. I thought waiting for decisions to come back was the worst waiting game but I was wrong...this is.
  6. Just in case you haven't seen it already, they updated the newly admitted MSW page to say "early May" for communication with our field advisor. More waiting! But that's life right now. Oh cool, thanks! I'm debating between paying more for rent and living closer to campus with no car vs. having a car and commuting from an area where rent is cheaper. I guess I don't really have a specific question but wondering your thoughts on that. On one hand, I want the Berkeley experience of living close to campus but on the other hand I'm worried about finances. Also, obviously I'm not sure where my internship will be but I hope I'd be able to take BART around regardless.
  7. Hi, I’ve done the same as you. Submitted a question and haven’t received a response. I get that there’s a lot going on right now but it’s still frustrating to not have much communication from them. I mean they’ve gotta be working from home-emails and phones still work. Do you have an idea of where/what kind of internship you want?
  8. Congrats to you as well!! Looks like we’re in the same boat. I haven’t heard from a field advisor but I did submit a question about that on the new admit page. Have you heard from them? Assuming things go back to normal, what are your housing plans? I applied to grad housing but haven’t heard anything. It’s weird to plan for future stuff right now but I also want to be prepared when the world reopens! ?
  9. Hi! Yes, I was accepted and have committed. I’m guessing you are as well? It’s such a weird feeling right now because I’m excited but COVID has really thrown me off with how to plan for the fall. I’m from Southern California and was planning on moving to Berkeley in early August but now I’m not sure if that will happen. Im curious how they will handle internship placements seeing as how we should be starting looking/interviewing now with our field advisor. How are you feeling about everything?
  10. I hope everyone is hanging in there during this time! I have committed to UC Berkeley MSW- SCYF and am wondering if anyone has heard from their field advisor? On the New Admit page it says we should be contacted in "early April" ...I feel like that should have been by now. I will email next week and see if I can get more information. I have interviewed at a possible internship site in Oakland but would like an advisor's input/direction for sure before accepting. I'm also curious if they will reschedule some sort of virtual reception for new admits as was originally communicated. Anyways, just throwing my thoughts out there! I'd love to chat with any fellow incoming students about the process, housing, coffee shops, internships, etc!!!
  11. I received an email from UCLA yesterday notifying me that I’m waitlisted. I have already committed to UC Berkeley but it still stings a little to not get in! Congrats to everyone who was accepted!
  12. Wow, so helpful Thank you for explaining that to me! I will call Berkeley and see what information they can give me. Berkeley is my dream school but now I'm coming back down to earth and thinking about the financial component. Congrats on your acceptance to BC! Have you committed or are you waiting to hear back from other schools?
  13. For those accepted, did you get any information on financial aid? I got an email saying I didn’t get any departmental fellowships. Does this mean I won’t get anything from FAFSA? This will be my first time taking out loans for school so I’m not really clear on the process. Any input is appreciated!
  14. Maybe you will hear tonight! Hang in there.
  15. I’m still in disbelief. I got in!!!! Got the email around 8:15 last night. The confetti was icing on top of that letter. What specialization did you choose?
