Officially accepted U of Iowa. Hurrah! Is anyone else on this thread a potential cohort mate? Congrats to those that are done, and, good luck to everyone that's still deciding! -

It is awesome. That film is pain, joy, and psychosis all rolled into one. A very good estimation of what we're all going through, I'm sure. P.S. Rooting for you transcendental, and you know it! [AND ALL 'YALL] -

I was thinking of emailing too but I'm still trying to piece things together mentally. I'm just more confused than ever. Is Iowa your top choice? [Feel free to PM if you'd rather!] -

My waitlist got turned into an acceptance during the first week of March. I'm guessing someone declined really, really early. There's hope! Also I think someone got in early off the waitlist at Berkeley that same week. -

I haven't heard either. I'd like to assume we're on an unofficial wait list, but, there do seem to be a lot of people without decisions. So, who knows. -

I applied three times, and received my first real acceptance this year after being shut out in previous years. Obviously it depends on the individual and what other interests and opportunities one may have. I simply couldn't (and can't) envision another career path for myself. I, also, am somewhat of an insane optimist so it was pretty easy to "bounce back" quickly after being rejected across the board twice. If I had been shut out again, I probably would have applied again this year. Meanwhile, I realized this time around that, despite my acceptance (only one, so far – either way, I am grateful), my application could have been clearer, better, more strongly situated in the current realm of academia. I could have contacted professors ahead of time (which I did not do). I could have improved my GRE scores. I could have submitted a better writing sample. So, essentially – I do think this process is a crap shoot. I could have been better. I'm certain that my application kept improving over the years, but, I could have easily been shut out again this year. But, regardless, I kept applying. I can't speak to anyone else's goals or life circumstances or whatever. But for me – it was worth it. Anyway, I'm rooting for all of you. This is not meant to be "inspiration," per say – it's just my reality. -

I'll be attending! Looking forward to meeting some of you there. It looks like the information session will last about an hour; informal "party" to follow. -

I wouldn't worry too much about this. I'm in the same boat as you – most of my app. materials are listed as "Not Received." I emailed the dept. a few weeks back and they said that they had all my materials on file. They probably just haven't updated your online information. I tend to fall into the "no news is good news" camp, especially for Washington. Last year they strung out their decisions throughout March. Good luck to all! -

Mine was "Awaiting Program Decision" until this morning, when it changed to "Final Review," which to me signifies rejection within a day or two. Sure enough, got my rejection today. Expected, more or less. -

Someone just posted on the results page that they queried the department and got a rejection from UMN. I emailed a few days ago and still haven't heard back/no status change. Still assuming implicit rejection, but, it would be nice to get closure. Are there a lot of people on here who haven't gotten their official rejections yet either? -

Thanks for the info, Baccarat! I'm still holding out some hope, but, March 5 is definitely right around the corner...I feel like they would have notified most of their admits by now... Your "xoxo" totally made my day. Love it. Enjoy your visit! -

Oh, nice. The bay area is awesome. When is visiting day? If it's coming up soon, that may not bode well for those of us who haven't heard anything yet (myself included). -

Congrats, Baccarat! I do think we're talking about the same program. Is Santa Cruz one of your top choices? -
My absolute favorite comment on the results forum about a Brown reject: "Dear applicant: LAWL, Brown." Yep. That's me right now. LAWL, ROFL, LMAO: nice try, kid. Good luck to everyone else!

I would also like one acceptance! (There should be enough to go around ) I'm with you on 1) UCSC and 2) Washington. I wish 1) wasn't so erratic and 2) didn't take so long. Baaaaah.
