I have been waitlisted at UArk - and I saw someone else was too, so I wanted to give a quick update as I just had a chat with one of the professors there. I'm sure all schools are different, but in this case they said there is no ranking of the waitlist, and that the decision of who will be offered a spot is highly dependent on 'fit' with the other incoming student - in other words, they only accept two people into this department, so they want the pair to be compatible. It's not something that I thought of as being important, so I hope this information is useful and comforting to anyone else out there waitlisted - I know it's impossible not to take it personally, but there are so many factors beyond the quality of your work/your personality/whatever else you are picking apart.

No need to prepare—the call is a simple follow-up to share next steps and answer any additional questions that you may have! ^This is the response I received when asking if I was having a second-round interview. I'm thinking maybe I've been waitlisted? I'm not sure what to think from this reply...my heart is SO anxious right now, it's killing me...

I hope you're right!!! It's unexpected, they said nothing implied last time that there would be another round, and they were only interviewing six people I believe. But even if interviews give me intense anxiety, it's worth it to get one step closer. Thank you!

For other people who have applied for Arkansas - did any of you have a follow up conversation? I just received an email asking to have another follow-up talk. What does this mean??? I'm terrified that they just want to explain to me why I'm not being accepted...

Good luck to you as well! The Arkansas print department is really new, so it's not that impressive in terms of facilities - but the whole department is growing really rapidly, and has incredible funding, which was the decisive factor in where I applied. I also just liked the atmosphere very much when I visited. Fingers crossed! :) I hope you hear back from your other schools soon! It's so nerve-racking isn't it...

I am! I only applied to a four programs, as it was a rather last minute decision. I just interviewed with Arkansas today, which is my top choice. I've also applied for UGA, Tulane, and VCU, but haven't heard from any of them yet. I saw someone else has already interviewed with UGA so I'm not optimistic... Where did you apply? Nice to find a fellow printmaker! :)
