  1. I'm also interviewing at BU, Northeastern, and Emerson! As someone who's had a bunch of job interviews in the past few years (I'm an out-of-field applicant, and mainly worked in schools prior to this year), I'd wear anything that's professional and appropriate that you feel comfortable in. For me, that's a pencil skirt and blouse, with black tights and ankle boots. For someone else, it could look totally different. Basically, wear something that's, like, one step fancier than you'd usually wear to work or clinic. I wouldn't wear a skirt if you usually never do, or flats if you prefer heels, for example. As bags go, I'm planning to bring a smallish purse to keep my phone, chapstick, and any papers I'm given in. I'm also planning on bringing a notebook with a folder pocket in it, to hold my CV. I don't think we'll need our CVs (in fact, one of my professors said that we probably wouldn't), but better safe than sorry. I was just going to carry the notebook in my hand, but that's not for any professional reason--I just like to have something to hold on to. And best of luck for your interviews!
  2. I'm sure they can! I heard back from Northeastern after I submitted my preferences (Northeastern schedules interviews for applicants), so I emailed BU to update my preferences, and they got back to me immediately and said they could accommodate it. I think we'll be hearing back from them with dates and times today!
  3. First of all, congrats on submitting! Second of all, you are absolutely not alone--this is me, every single time I apply for anything, even when I feel good about my essays, and have gotten feedback from lots of people. I find that the best solution is the to never ever ever look back at application essays. What's done is done, and worrying will only make us miserable. Remember that you're qualified and passionate, and that will come across in your statement and LoRs. If it makes you less anxious (which maybe it won't, and in that case, don't do it), you could also start coming up with a backup plan--personally, realizing that I'm qualified to be an SLPA if I don't get into grad school this cycle was really liberating. And remember, not getting into grad school this cycle doesn't mean you never will, and does not determine your worth. And last but not least, cut yourself some slack! You've submitted your applications, which in itself is a feat! Now, watch some dumb tv, drink your favorite drink, and relax!
  4. If you like museums, the Isabella Stewart Gardner is my favorite in Boston--it's a really eclectic art collection and a unique building. There's also the Museum of Fine Art in the same area, which is also nice, but a more typical museum. Plus, I think both do student discounts! Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market are kind of touristy, but historic, and worth going to, especially on a weekend. There's an open-air market in the area every weekend, called Haymarket, and it's an experience. Kind of overwhelming sometimes, with lots of shouting, but definitely an interesting (and kind of the opposite of touristy) thing to check out. The North End is really nice, especially for Italian food--literally any restaurant will have good food! There's also a great little bakery called Bova's with amazing cannoli. Also, if you have to take the T to your interview, I really recommend leaving about fifteen minutes earlier than you think you have to. BU is off the green line, which is notoriously unreliable Do you know if you're interviewing Friday or Saturday?
  5. Awesome! Boston's a great place to be a student--I moved here in 2011 for my undergrad, and I just keep coming back. If you've never been, let me know if you want/need any recommendations for things to do or see!
  6. Congrats on the interview!!g I'm also interviewing at BU! From their email, I got the impression that that the reason they want people to come in for the interview is so we can get a better idea of what the program is like, talk to current students, and tour their facilities. I don't think that going or not going to the in-person interview will affect your chances of getting in--it would be really crappy to discriminate against people who couldn't make it because of classes or work. But, it might still be in your best interest to go, just because it would be nice to get a feel for the program. I think you'll end up fine either way!
