  1. What department? I turned down my offer for painting because I too felt that the program seemed unstable compared to what I did end up going with.
  2. Thanks for replying! Yeah, I'm about to put my deposit down for another school. I was waiting on them to get back with me before making that decision, but they're not even communicating with me any longer, which makes me think that they moved onto someone else. I've expressed to them already that I had another offer I was considering.
  3. Pay the deposit for your 2nd choice school. And IF something opens up at your 1st choice school, make a decision then.
  4. Anyone ever hear of or dealt with a school ghosting them after requesting for more financial aid? I'm kind of at a loss for words at the moment. Had a conversation with the dean about it last week, to which they said I would for sure hear back last Friday. I sent them a follow-up message Monday afternoon, they have yet to respond. Haven't heard from the department head in awhile either. Seems pretty strange, right? Any thoughts on this?
  5. It means they want your money and will take anyone willing to pay to go there at this point.
  6. It's a partially funded offer with teaching assistantships throughout the two years to offset what you would end up having to pay for tuition. It's really narrowing down to faculty for me. I would love to live in Seattle, but I didn't see my work benefitting from what the painting faculty at UW had to offer.
  7. Here's how my list played out: Boston University (accepted - 80% percent tuition reduction) VCU (accepted - full ride plus $10k teaching stipend) Tyler (accepted - renegotiating funding offer) UW Seattle (accepted - declined offer) UC Riverside (accepted - declined offer) UC Berkeley (waitlisted) UC San Diego (waitlisted) UCLA - rejected Yale - rejected Still trying to make a decision. Heavily leaning towards Boston U despite the funding offer from VCU.
  8. I got accepted. The "funding" they offered though is not good. It would cost $15k per SEMESTER to attend. I have a feeling Tyler lost a lot of funding due to the pandemic, which is maybe why it took so long to hear back from them. More than likely going to decline, unless they offer more, but not getting my hopes up.
  9. Painting people: Here's where I'm at, and I would appreciate any advice. Trying to decide between Boston University and VCU at the moment. VCU offered me both years of tuition covered plus a TAship/stipend each year. Boston U offered me 80% scholarship, which means I would pay $5,700 per year attend. Obviously, VCU is the better deal financially. What excites me most about Boston U is the faculty and how well connected they seem to be. Also, moving to a faster-paced, bigger city is appealing. I'm currently based in the Midwest, and Richmond seems real similar to the city I currently live in. I've spoken with students from each school and I still can't really gauge what the difference is regarding each program. I know VCU was hot back in the early 2000s back when Richard Roth was still there. I can't really tell what the vibe there is now though. Anyone have thoughts on this? The VCU deal is hard to ignore, but I saw someone on here turned down all of their fully-funded packages to go to Goldsmith's, so like, money doesn't really matter. I'm so used to being poor that it doesn't matter. Many thanks ya'll!
  10. Tyler? Tyler painting anyone? Are we going to hear back today?
  11. Does anyone have any insight into the program at UC Riverside? I was accepted awhile back, and am trying to decide if I should accept or decline the offer.
  12. It might be worth taking the offer. UCLA is extremely competitive, doesn’t accept many students, and kind of a dice roll anyways. Depends really if you think you can handle waiting another year
