  1. Hello, new question! Have any other people’s accepted schools cancelled their visit days due to coronavirus?? How are you all dealing with that? I know Berkeley and Harvard have cancelled so far, and would expect others to do the same if they haven’t already. It’s completely understandable (and wise) from a public health standpoint, just going to make my decision so much harder! Agghhh
  2. This is helpful, thanks so much! Not sure how typical this is. My funding is through the Berkeley Graduate Fellowship and I'm in the humanities, if that helps.
  3. Same here! Berkeley is one of my top choices but I'm curious about the cost of living. How feasible is it to study at Berkeley with a $31,500 stipend? That's how much I've been offered through the Berkeley Fellowship (from what I understand this is some sort of university-wide fellowship but I don't really know means/how this differs from other types of funding packages.)
  4. Hi, I've just PMed you about this! Best of luck
  5. oh hey! sorry for not mentioning this sooner, but I emailed the dept administrator for Harvard RLL last week and she said that all acceptances would go out this Tuesday, March 3rd. apparently there are a lot of administrative things that need to be handled before the acceptances are communicated. hope that's helpful and no, not sure how many people the dept takes
  6. ahh ok got it, I'm assuming a waitlist or rejection then. thanks for sharing !
  7. I interviewed a week and a half ago but haven’t heard anything since then (edit: not sure if you mean no news since interviews or just no news. hope this info is in some way helpful !)
  8. @Robert_Kerans @caeiro Same! My interview for Harvard RLL (French track) was two weeks ago. Haven't heard anything yet, although I never thought to ask about the decisions timeline during the interview.
  9. Does anyone know if all of the NYU offers have gone out already? Thanks so much!
  10. Hey all! Not sure if this will be helpful to any of you, but I applied for the Ertegun last year and was shortlisted for it but ended up not receiving the scholarship. So I have some previous experience with the interview process. The timeline for me was as follows: Feb 16 (Saturday) - received an email from the DGS of my department notifying me that I had been shortlisted for the scholarship, asking to schedule a Skype interview. The interview was the following day, on Sunday 17 Feb. About a week later, on Feb 22, I received an informal offer from my department. (I pretty much knew that I would be accepted once I was shortlisted for the scholarship, though.) Each department is responsible for shortlisting and interviewing their own candidates, and then representatives from different departments meet with the Ertegun committee to discuss the final selection. Last year that meeting happened in early to mid-March. The unfortunate thing is that, in past years, the Ertegun committee hasn't notified people who were rejected from the scholarship - they only contact the winners. So if you were shortlisted and interviewed but haven't heard any news by mid-March, you'd probably want to email them to ask for an update on the offers. That's what I did, and I heard back from them within an hour of sending the inquiry email. It really sucked to find out like that, and I wish they would have just created a protocol to let us all know instead of keeping us all hanging. From what I understand, the timeline varies from dept to dept and from year to year, so I wouldn't worry about anything just yet. I think in my year the decisions cycle came rather early for some reason. Good luck to all ! even just applying to Oxford is something to be proud of.
  11. Hey all! This is my first post here, but I've been reading this thread for a while now. I study 16th century and contemporary French literature (mostly post-1980s) and ended up applying to Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Berkeley, Brown and NYU. So far I've been accepted into Berkeley; I was on Princeton's campus visit last week, and I'm waiting to hear back from Princeton, NYU and Harvard (I interviewed with the latter two via Skype). Was rejected from Brown (with an interview) and Yale (without interview). Good luck to all, and here's hoping we hear back from places soon! I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that this process is enormously stressful, but at the very least, it feels good knowing that the initial interview stages are over.
