  1. Firstly, I hope you beat the heck out of that diagnosis. Secondly, whether or not the 3.0 requirement is really a "hard requirement" depends on a lot of factors including the programs requirements itself, number of applicants, program size, etc. Some programs weigh your GPA less than volunteer or work experience, while others weigh it higher than everything else. I would contact the school of graduate studies for each program asking whether or not this is a strict cut-off. Some programs show what GPA most successful applicants have had in previous years, this might give you a sense of your chances (you can also ask the school of graduate studies for these stats as well). It usually doesn't disqualify you immediately, but if majority of applicants are reaching this 3.0 then it just decreases the likelihood of you being admitted. In terms of explaining your situation, you could work this into your statement of interest, if it is important to you that the admissions committee know these details when considering your application. I hope that helps, all the best!
  2. I relate, the financial struggle is REAL It's an investment for the future which is just something to keep in mind, covid-19 is right now but it's not forever.
  3. I'm sorry to hear about your rejection, your application sounds outstanding! I truly think you have nothing to lose by asking them whether you can receive feedback regarding your application - best case they give you feedback, worst case they don't. You wouldn't be "blacklisted" and I severely doubt this would decrease your chance of being accepted in the future. Although it doesn't hurt to try I do believe it's unlikely that they will give an applicant specific feedback regarding their application as I'm sure they get a lot of enquiries about this and it's quite timely to sift through each applicants specific qualifications. Wishing you luck - I hope you get it next time!
  4. Congratulations on your acceptance and TAship! On the grand scheme of things $10,000 of debt is not much at all, I'm sitting at $25,000 of debt about to add another $26,000 on top (masters starting Fall 2020)No matter the job market in the near future, a Masters will certainly make you more marketable in the long-term. Compiling necessary documentation to apply for a graduate program is definitely a lot of work and not something I'd personally want to do again (asking for references/writing statements of interests, etc.). If I were in your shoes I would go for the degree, heck your financial position is better than mine right now and I'm still choosing to accept a program for this fall ?
  5. Congratulations @allyvs132 @TenH @KyH98 !! ? I'm also somewhat undecided between UofT and Queen's
  6. Thank you, congratulations to you too!! Welcome to the forum :]
  7. Hey guys!! I just received an offer of admission to UofT MIRHR - however they deemed me ineligible for the 12-month program, they've extended an offer for the 2 year :]
  8. I'm gunna search old threads for UofT MIRHR to see around when they were accepted... maybe it'll give us some idea. I'm getting increasingly concerned about how the university closures and covid-19 might factor into a delay of admission decisions. I don't want to wait too long and lose my opportunity for Queen's.
  9. @allyvs132 I check the admissions page frequently as well! I actually applied to a different (pretty unrelated) graduate program at UofT for fall 2020 entry as well. I was rejected on Monday (expected it), they send an email that says "a decision has been made regarding your application" and when you log into SGS application page they attach the rejection letter there. @TenH I contacted the MIR program office, they said we have a safety net of about 4 weeks to accept or decline our offer of admission.
  10. Thank you @allyvs132 !! I'm really curious about UofT as well, I wish more applicants were active on this thread so we can gain some insight. My app is still under review - no change yet. Congratulations on getting into the post-degree diploma .
  11. I'll contact them via email and let you know what they say just to be sure
  12. @TenH I applied to the one year stream... in retrospect I think I was a little over-confident in doing that but here's hoping! Also, I received my official acceptance to Queen's University this morning ? I wasn't able to find the deadline in the email or decision letter though - how did you find out we have until July to accept/decline?
  13. @TenH agree! my application is still under review. Did you apply to advanced standing or two year stream?
  14. @TenH I actually didn't know about OGS until you mentioned it here earlier and I looked it up - I haven't applied for it. Queen's is granting 1k
