  1. I graduated from my undergrad in 2020, so this is my third application cycle (though I took last year off). My undergrad supervisor suggested I get more clinical research experience to improve my application. I live in a smaller town in BC, but I was able to find a job as a clinical research coordinator at a medical research company. I have now been here almost two years and have worked my way up to being site manager. For jobs, I would take a look at clinical research companies, both private and through provincial health. Some of my cohort opted to enter a 2-year diploma program to pass the time. Regarding coping, it took me a while to figure out what works for me. I am at a point now where I am at peace with the fact I may not get in to clinical psych, despite being more than qualified and passionate. I have researched other jobs I would be interested in and have created a plan on what I will do should I be rejected from all the programs I applied to this year. I also have kept myself busy by finding online courses and diplomas I can take. I am working on one in forensic psychology and completed my probation officer training, this has been super helpful as someone who loves learning! I hope you hear from a program this year, but if not there are so many options out there and you may end up grateful taking some time off, I know I am!
  2. I completely understand how you are feeling. 4.00 GPA, 5 conference presentations, 2 publications, and I have been working in clinical research for 2 years and I haven't even received an interview invite this cycle despite research interests aligning closely. This truly is the most frustrating experience. As others have shown on this thread, consistency does pay off, but I think this is my last time applying if I am unsuccessful.
  3. Interested in the USask POI who sent out interview invites if the poster doesn't mind sharing!
  4. I applied in 2020 and made it through to an interview, so I could possibly help!
  5. I have a similar experience to the other person who responded to your question. In my undergrad I was a research assistant in 4 different labs simultaneously. I think it was a huge benefit for me, as I got experience in different areas of psychology and really learned how to work with different professors. Definitely not taboo to be looking into other opportunities, take any you can find!
  6. Hello everyone! Both excited and dreading this application season. Second time around, I applied in 2020 and was rejected from all 3 schools, with only 1 interview. I plan to be more organized with my applications this time! I took a year off to work in clinical research which will hopefully strengthen my application. Good luck to everyone!!
  7. Got a super nice email from my POI at Ryerson letting me know I was her top choice, but ultimately got waitlisted due to a lack of clinical spots. I got offered to switch to the psych science stream (doesn’t really fit my career path), so I guess we wait it out and hope a clinical spot opens up!
  8. I know UBC-O has already sent out interview invites, and unfortunately there are very, very few spots this year so i wouldn't expect a second round of interviews. I hate to pass on the news but better than not knowing! I am hoping to apply next year when more professors are accepting students!
  9. Woke up to an email that I am waitlisted at Ryerson. Not too disappointed as getting in would mean a cross country move which absolutely terrified me. If I end up getting off the waitlist, then I guess it is meant to be! POI is TB.
  10. I got an email from Ryerson last week letting me know that the admissions committee is still sending out offers as they were wanting me to apply for funding (despite not receiving an offer). But if anyone who has acceptances can you send me the initials of your POI? I want to know if it's time to rebook the GRE to get ready for the next round of applications. Also, anyone hear anything from USask? Been absolute silence since I submitted the application
