Trust your voice ,you know where you are going and thats a huge clarity and assurance you have on your side in the midst of everything!! and I can identify with that clarity and that's why we should trust we'll be right where we need to be in terms of getting what we need regardless of the situation!!!

agree with you guys...I thought about deferring but honestly, It's time for me to get my career started...and also, I will get what I want and I am willing to go with it and see what happens and start as soon as possible..I believe it will all work out as it should..it ALWAYS does...I am surrendering to the process and trust that I'll be right where I need to even without deferring.
So trust your decisions!!! congratulations to your acceptance and here's to a phenomenal career ahead no matter what happens!!

For all of those waiting on Columbia, I received my acceptance letter on Thursday, April 16th. I was already over the entire waiting it out and the only communication they've provided was about their FB live. Honestly, after the acceptance everything comes in pretty face, you get more communication and the fin aid package. Long story short, I decided to decline the offer. I was not pleased with the fin aid package (they offered no scholarships, just loans :/) and the overall lack of engagement with prospective students that are waiting. Plus, I've heard some very unfortunate stories from Columbia students about the lack of help with placement and preparing for licensing.
I also declined Fordham, Temple, Adelphi and LIU offers. I've accepted to NYU because it was and still is the most engaging and I already feel like a part of the community. They sent me my acceptance decision within 5 days of submitting my application and I've been emailed personally by the fin aid and enrollment and admission offices about opportunities that fits me personally.
Hope my declining of offer Columbia opens up a spot for someone who really wants to go there. Good luck to you all.

    Hi All!
    I'm Alexandra!
I have created this forum for newly admitted students to the MSW NYU Shanghai Program!!
Would be nice for us to all have a space to discuss stuff and get connected before we start!

Hi guys!!! Been awhile since I've posted, but I wanted to say congratulations to everyone!!!
I received my acceptances to NYU and BU last week
It was especially rewarding because I was seriously starting to doubt my chances, but NYU was my top choice!!!
The only disappointing thing is that BU didn't offer any scholarships, and the one NYU offered was quite low. I could probably make it with loans, but I would rather take out as few as possible. Does anyone know the process of requesting a reevaluation from either of these schools?
Also, I'm still waiting to hear back from PSU and UW, but BU wants a decision by March 4th. How would I go about asking for an extension??

    Thank you!!!!

Just accepted to NYU's Shanghai / NYC program, with 17k scholarship. I'm not sure whether these are going out on a different timeline from the general MSW.

    Hi there,
I'm just about finished with my MSW applications for Fall 2020. Just waiting on my last (slow!) recommender to make time to write the last two letters.
Ohio State (online) - last piece submitted 12/2 LSU (online) - waiting on last recommender UMD Baltimore (in person) - waiting on last recommender I know that on Ohio's website it says that admissions are rolling, with an average notification time of 3–5 weeks. The UMD website doesn't give a time frame—it just says basically "keep checking back every week after completion." And I have no idea at all about LSU.
    A bit about me:
38-year-old career changer (from publishing—last degree in 2012) Areas of interest: substance abuse; harm reduction; family systems; trauma; psychedelic therapy; marginalized communities 3.67 undergrad GPA (B.A. Communication / B.A. English) 3.74 graduate GPA (M.A. Linguistics) 4.0 GPA during my recent return to community college the past 3 semesters to gain relevant coursework GRE: 170 V / 155 Q / 4.5 AW Crisis line and harm reduction volunteer work Ohio is my first choice because they have a substance misuse specialization and there's a professor there whose work I admire. Plus,  I'd rather do online than in-person. UMD is second because I am hoping to move back to my hometown of Baltimore at some point in the next little while anyway, plus it has proximity to the research at Johns Hopkins (for which I have vague hopes for some kind of externship or volunteer research assistant position there eventually). LSU is third because they are affordable and fulfill my basic criteria of being asynchronously online, with enough of a generalist bent that I could hopefully kind of make it what I want it to be.
Right now I am mostly focusing on mentally willing my professor to finish my recommendations, plus obsessively checking my Ohio portal because it says "in review."
