  1. I noticed Emory has been added to the invites list from College Confidential... but it doesn't seem like anyone has posted that they /got/ an interview in the results section. Did they send out all of their invites?
  2. Aww, well good luck! :-D I'm holding off on job apps til I hear back from grad schools and finish my undergrad degree up. I wish you the best!

  3. As an example, (but maybe not the rule) a neuroscience website, "Historically, we receive ~140 applications of which we invite 25-30 applicants for interviews, we accept 60-70% of those we interview, and we are accepted by 50-60% of those we accept." For whatever that is worth.
  4. Neuropanda, I am a neuroscience applicant also, where are you applying?

    Good luck!!

  5. There's a reason they post the averages... someone has to bring it down just like how someone has to bring it up! Keep in mind the fact that Harvard is rejecting a (very tiny slightly) higher average than accepting. ...and a 3.4 is a fine GPA, especially with great research! Toss in some excellent letters and a really well written personal statement, and you can do it! Chin up! :-)
  6. My friend was in a similar situation. He did an REU at NYU where although he was in a certain "big name" professor's lab, he barely interacted with the professor, he worked mostly with the reliable postdoc in the lab all summer. He got the postdoc to write the letter, and he had them both sign off on it. He's now in the neuro program at JHU.
  7. http://www.amazon.com/Conquering-Vocab-Effective-Vocabulary-Shortest/dp/0578028999/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274824045&sr=8-2 Uses fun stories to help you remember the words, and has a vocab list in the back. It's super thin, decently fun to read, and pretty helpful. Not the only vocab study book you'll need by any means, but a good one to get started.
