Yes. I only hope luck is with us this year. Hahahaha Did you apply for DAAD too? I've seen there are a lot of great programs with DAAD's program but I think the process is a bit too tedious for international applicants so I've decided not to apply. Hahaha Anyway, they already offered conditional acceptance to my application via portal. You should check yours too. Perhaps will just wait until April for the scholarship.

My estimate for last year’s total number of applicants should be around 250-300 at least, that’s based on my generated application number, just a wild guess. This year, hope I’m wrong but it has probably tripled (mine in the portal is already on 700th- ish). Anyway I just love deducing things to keep me busy and on the line, not too relaxed and not too anxious. Nice! Good move to switch to biochemistry, it’s one of my fave subjects too, tbh. Hahahaha. Yes, you’re right. Good thing is I have a certain toxicology course in my undergrad (on top of chemistry ones) so maybe it also pushed my ranking up last year. I’m only hoping I’ve made the right tweaks in my submission this year. The process is all fun but exhausting. ??

Hi. I didn’t try to apply for Food ID and other food science related programs. I wanted to try a different field which gears towards agriculture and environmental science because I think they are more relevant to my country and kind of closer to my heart.

There’s always something for you. Sometimes you’ll just have to wait for that perfect moment. I’ve been applying for 3 years now and I think this could be my last, no matter the outcome. Hahaha Well in my case we were informed a little bit late since they wanted to prioritize the selected candidates. I was informed April 29 of last year that I was put in the reserved list. And I thought it was already a great achievement since there are hundreds (I believe) who have applied. My Bachelor’s Degree is Food Technology. I know it’s a bit far from ECT but I’m also lucky with my job to give me skills and competencies relevant for ECT. How about you?

Hi! I've submitted my application just this time for ECT+. Actually I was in the reserve list last year and I only tried to re-apply again because nobody knows when luck hits you. I've made some improvements for this year, hoping they will be pleased with my submission this time. Anyway, good luck on your future applications! Just don't rush them and focus on each program.

It depends on the program’s criteria. I think it’s important to have a decent GPA but then it’s not the only thing that sets you apart from other candidates. Other programs look into your motivation, recommendation and even language skills.

This is quite sad. If they are gonna get postponed, I wonder if there will be a new batch of applications starting November for AY 2021. I was just about to ask how are the visa applications and preparations by successful candidates by now. Hope everyone’s fine. Keep the fire burning guys!

Just an update, the secretariat replied and I was 33rd in the reserve list. 2020 is not yet meant for me. Will just re-apply next year with better credentials and research topic probably. Any successful candidates who can give tips will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. ???

Hi, sadly the secretariat have not replied yet to my email. Maybe I’ll do some follow ups this end of May or early June. A lot can happen still. Not losing hope but open to all sorts of possibilities as well. Thank you and good luck too.

Congrats on your grant! Yes, I’ve read your posts before and it really motivated me. I’ve applied for 4 scholarship grants this year (1 is VLIR) and it is only in this program that I got reserved. It’s a big achievement already. I just need to revamp my research topic and stuff up my credentials for now and perhaps wait for further announcements. Who knows. Thank you and may the pandemic not spoil what’s ahead to all of you. ???

Yes. Thanks! I’ve read some were notified even late July to Aug. My friend got a movement from reserve to main list way back 2016. Let’s give it some time. Lurking in forums such as this kinda gives me hope. Some even tried three times before getting the grant. Let’s not give up on our dreams just yet. ???

Ohhh. So that would mean we already got no chance then if confirmations have been made. I got 709 for Category A. No response yet for the ranking in the reserve list. Looks like I’m just gonna have to re-apply next year. ?

Hello. I am currently on the reserved list for ECT+. I already asked my ranking from the consortium. I just hope my ranking is high enough for movement to the main list. May I know when is usually the deadline of acceptance by selected candidates? I hope I’ll get response or update by mid-May. Best of luck to everyone! Keep safe!
