  1. just got another emailing me telling me to apply to FLAS. i feel like if i had gotten money they would not be bringing this up so much. so yeah, can't really accept this offer. hopefully ssp brings better news?
  2. i think masia will be tomorrow
  3. i could live without the ssp admissions newsletters, i admit it
  4. really do hate to say it, but i've confirmed with people from previous years that funding comes in the initial/unofficial email, so RIP.
  5. you're poor, and i'm poor, but together, we can be poor together i'm praying maybe the money comes in the official letter but looking up previous years it seems like it gets mentioned in the first email lol. i'm gonna wait though for the real email before embarrassing myself and asking them about it
  6. i got a soft offer from MASIA just now but no mention of money.......
  7. idk if i'm supposed to hear about money in the informal offer or no but it's hard not to feel like the moment is deflated without a "congrats here's a bucket of money!!!!!" in the same email
  8. it masia no mention of money tho which is a non-starter lol
  9. this post reads like i forced a bot to read 1000 gradcafe posts and make its own lol big if true
  10. All the programs have separate admissions committees, unless you're referring to the overall graduate school one that finalizes acceptances or whatever? I'm still highly skeptical. SSP at least was very clear about "mid-March"
  11. no i definitely don't have any real info either. it's so odd applying to grad school where programs just don't seem to publish detailed admissions stats? for undergrad you know application count down to single digits, accepted, and yield, haha. SFS gives rough application estimates (msfs page says 700-900), rough admin stats (35-45%), and no yield info.
  12. is msfs the biggest program? i think by cohort ssp seems to be larger? spring 21 class has 74 people apparently, compared to msfs class of 2021 with ~50? ref https://msfs.georgetown.edu/people/students/msfs21/ https://twitter.com/GeorgetownCSS/status/1353809875210563585
  13. i remain skeptical there would be a result already. idk/idc about MPP but SSP is suspect edit: it's also possible they meant they had applied for spring 21 and were rejected previously and were waiting on MPP decision?
  14. First week of March sounds early. SSP email said mid March. Given a pandemic I'd expect it to be on the later end of that, maybe like 3/15-3/20 or something. Random: I submitted the analytical writing sample for SSP and the portal shows it as a green check mark, but in the top section where it lists the documents they have received, it is not shown as one of them. I assume they would have emailed me if they thought something was missing?
  15. i expect rejection but paradoxically if i DO get in, i'm kinda requiring scholarship money or it ain't worth it lol
  16. I think I'm at the point of seniority already where when I get an MA it's not actually going to change my salary at all, not even a dollar Doing it for personal interest and ethereal and completely debunked "improving my application for future jobs" reasons.
  17. Yep! I skipped the GRE though so I have a feeling that's going to disqualify me even though it said it's optional this year
  18. I got nothin' for ya here... but did you also apply to Georgetown Asian Studies? If so, sup.
  19. Sup? SSP and a regional program. Applied without GRE. Expect failure.
  20. Oddly events this year have actually served as the motivation for me to apply
