  1. Dear all, it has been quite a journey. You are an amazing group! Congratulations to all of you who got into their dream programs, my best wishes for the ones who got waitlisted and the ones who will apply next year. I would like to offer an additional piece of advice from my own experience and after talking to applicants admitted PhD Epi programs at JHU, Harvard, Yale, and Columbia. First, most of them did their undergrad and masters at top 10 schools but there were a few exceptions (international and/or low ranked programs in the US). Second, having an affiliation/experience at UN organizations definetely helps. Third, publications and work experience help a lot if they are closely related to the program you are applying to. Fourth, it is pivotal to build a comprenhensive trajectory that clearly speaks to why the PhD (in your chosen track) is a logical step in your career. Fifth, significant research experience (maybe 2+ years) that is well aligned to your desired program. Overall, in everything you do, try to related it to your area/track of interest and specific area of interest and population of interest. Avoid spreading all around (i.e. adults + children + hiv + cancer, etc). This is what quality over quantity would mean in this context. Sixth, align your career goals to your specific area of interest. Dream big but also be realistic. For instance, if you want to lead a UN agency you should at least have some exposure to it through an internship/work, current collaborators, etc. Be specific and have a realistic plan in your head. Also, break your overall goal into short, medium and long term sub goals. I believe that the stronger factor would be the real world impact (specific to your track) your were able to achieve with your work/publications. For example, a policy being started/changed based on your research. Resources being allocated to a program/emergency situation based on your advocacy work, etc. @Mamitis Hope this is a bit helpful 😃
  2. Oh! I understand that. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the DrPH program. Hope you get in!
  3. Hi! Are you referring to thw PhD Epi program at Boston Univ? If so, there will be an event on Wednesday for admitted students.
  4. I was about to say that! That's wonderful! I am also considering staying at JHU. Let stay in touch!

  6. Same here! I was rejected from the Harvard PhD PHS Epi. I just checked my application portal after reading your updates. My best wished for the ones who got accepted and waitlisted!
  7. That is so weird. My portal account has no change at all. Probably because I got rejected. Sending positive vibes for you as you can open your letter =D
  8. Thanks beeboopbeep! Yes, the funding is a bit low, however, I haven't asked about work commitments yet. In my case, I was awarded a fellowship with the same amount explained before for the first two years. I am hoping there is a way to work on an RA position on top of the fellowship. Wil keep you updated. Btw, I have also seen a one-time $1,500 relocation grant that could cover extra expenses, if awarded.
  9. That's correct. I applied to the cancer track. Other than that, my case is similar to manifest. An offer letter with funding and visit information was attached to the email (sent from the Epi chair office). However, my portal hasn't been updated yet.
  10. Thank you! Yes, it was by email. I understand you, I have been like that the last couple of days! Stay strong, I am sure the best will come your way 🙏
  11. Congratulations! I so happy for you! I also just heard that I got into the same program TT
  12. Wow! You got accepted by several programs! Congratulations!
  13. I got my first rejection today, from Duke University. Good luck to all, I appreciate we are going through this process together! 😁
  14. Congratulations! There are three or four of us! So happy for you!
  15. Thanks a lot! This info is very helpful! I felt the same re the 25-year question XD
  16. I also had an interview for Harvard PHS around the same days but didn't hear anything else. Let's hang in there and hope for the best!
  17. Hey! Congrats on your interview! I got the same questions except for the last one, we run out of time. I couldn't ask anything because of the time. Do you mind sharing what they answered regarding the stipend for only 2 years?
  18. Thanks! The email was specific to my case and it did't mention when all interviews will be done, but the last available date was in a couple of weeks. Hope this helps!
  19. Btw, it looks like Boston University (PhD Epi) interviews have started to go out. I got an interview invitation today.
  20. Yay! Congratulations! Yes, I would love to connect. I'll send you a message!
  21. Yes, but my letter didn't detail my track. I guess I will have more information in the coming days.
  22. Thanks a lot! This information is very helpful. Wish you the best for your applications!
  23. Thank you! It was a couple of weeks ago. Did you receive the general email this morning? They mentioned decisions would be released in batches until the end of March. So, there is still a lot of time. Fingers crossed!
