  1. Thank you! I really appreciate your advice. This is my first time applying and any information on how UNC's financial system works or how to negotiate would be greatly appreciated.
  2. I received my first acceptance from UNC-Chapel Hill, Ph.D. Epidemiology. Waiting to hear more about financial aid. Good luck to all!
  3. Hi! Of course! It was around January 10 To be honest, I don't know if it went good of bad. It was a 30- minute talk with questions related to what makes me a unique candidate for the program. I also had the chance to talk about my mentoring and research experiences and ask questions about the program. The flow of the conversation was positive, but I didn't feel the interviewer selling the program. People say that good interviews have a component of selling-buying from both sides. Hope this helps! I couldn't understad if you got an interview or are waiting to receive one, but I wish you the best in any case 🤗
  4. Congrats! You will do it great!
  5. I did! I heard there were hundreds of applicants this year, so the first screening is taking long. A selected list of candidates will be invited for interviews at the end of the month and early Feb. Interviews will be scheduled by Feb. Hang in there, hope we make the short list =")
  6. No, I applied to the PhD PHS in Epi
  7. I would also advice to go through some things that happened recently and were not reflected in your application. I had two interviews for one program and the second one asked: What can you share with me that is neither in your application package nor was it mentioned in the previous interview? I struggled with that question. Hope this info helps you 😃
  8. I am sure we all got that feeling after the interview. I also forgot several things, even when I tried to connect some missing points of my story across different questions. We did our best and I hope that is enough for us and they can appreciate that 😃
  9. Wow! Congratulations! This is a huge accomplishment and so early in the application process. Proud of you!
  10. Hey! I didn't realize that! Also, we could be in the same cohort! Hope we both do well in the interview! Rooting for you!
  11. Yay! Happy for you! Which track did you choose? I chose cancer epi.
  12. Hi! Don't be discouraged. I know Harvard and JHU have started to send invitations. I heard of people being accepted without an interview. So, I think there are no strict rules regarding interviews. Wish you all the best during this process. Let's stay positive until the end 😃 It looks like the programs will decide between February and March, and the very last decisions are made in April.
  13. Hi all! I just got an interview invitation from JHU PhD in Epi 😃!
  14. Thanks a lot for clarifying that!
  15. I should have had a second interview with X university today, but the interviewer never showed up. I sent a follow up email and I am still waiting to know from the interviewer. Anyone heard/had of a similar situation? What could it mean? My first interview for the same program also ended earlier (half of the time) than expected and the interviewer didnt talk much and was very difficult to read. In my short experience, interviews are being brutal 😭
  16. Got an interview at UNC! 😃
  17. Congrats on your BU interview! I hear you, I am also getting emotional with my interviews and very nervous because they start tomorrow morning =S May I ask if there is an application portal for BU? I also applied to BU and I am concerned I might have deleted one of their emails.
  18. Congrats on your UNC interview!
  19. Loved what you said! Yes, let's stay positive and support one another during this process. @Public health grl I am not applying to the DrPh program but this info could be useful. I mentioned a couple of faculty in my application, but none of them approached me with an interview invitation. The invitations I got were from other faculty in the program and they mentioned they wanted to evaluate whether my research interests aligned with the program. Let's stay positive! My current mentor mentioned she was waitlisted at Harvard without getting an interview and was accepted at another university without an interview.
  20. Sorry! I think I forgot to answer your last question. I am interviewing for the PhD Epi with specialization in cancer.
  21. Thanks a lot! All the advice I could get is very well appreciated 🤗 I got another interview for Duke in the same day and I am freaking out for not messing it up 🫠 I heard things could be more difficult for international applicants like me because we can't be financed by the most common funding sources. You are also applying to PhDs in Epi, right? Whish you all the best.
