I think that means what they project the entering class to be rather than the offers they give. They probably give out more than 10.

Accepted to UVA! Just received an email that a decision was posted to the portal.

I don’t think safeties really exist for PhDs, especially when you are still in the top ~20. Admissions is often as much about fit as qualifications. People get rejected from their bottom choice and accepted into their top choice. Admissions are weird.

Just got a rejection email from the UW-Madison DGS. I saw some had been invited for interviews so I figured my chances were slim. Congrats to those who got in.

Congrats on the interview! If a school is doing interviews, it’s certainly better to get one than not.

I checked my portal from last year and my rejection letter was posted Feb 7th. The timeline may be different for accepted students though.

Yeah interesting point, GW is kinda strange but it seems like they are moving away from as much of a policy focus. They have had a decent placement record the last couple years. They placed a guy at UCSD in 2019-2020 which is kinda surprising judging just by rankings.

I wish I could say it is for advanced users only In the upper right corner, hit the drop down menu next to your name and go to profile. Within that page, there will be a banner at the top and in the upper right corner within that there should be a button to edit profile and it will be in that. I think thats how you can do it.

I know somebody who does poli econ and was interviewed. I'm assuming they were interviewed by the poli econ group but im not 100% certain.

Just got an admit at GW! Email from DGS.

My official letter came about a week after the portal status was changed, and then the funding info was Feb 22. It has to go through a uni-wide funding competition first.

1st: congrats! Being accepted is great and you should be happy about that. 2nd: yeah funding is still not a given right now so don’t pop the champagne lol. But even if you got this far, it means you are a very strong candidate from among the general pool.

I have a friend who has not received a rejection yet (and is international) from Chicago pol econ, so they may be doing it in batches or will send out acceptances at some point. Point is, some have still not heard word.

Yeah the portal said accepted around jan 20 and then they emailed official acceptance letters maybe a week after.

Sorry to hear. Good luck on the rest of your apps though. Don't let your first reject get you down, you've got plenty more places left!

Lmao they accepted me last year, then a month later told me I had no funding, then reject me now. Good arc.

Yeah mine also still says pending. But when I got an admit last year, the portal changed around this time to show accepted and rejects still said pending for a bit. Hope that isn't the case this year...
