  1. The class sizes are really small. I think this past cohort only had like 9/10 people. They also just built a brand new hospital and health science building in Bloomington which is where we get to take all of our classes. Everything brand new and we share the building with nursing, med, and SLP so it’s all grad students in this building. IU also doesn’t do a capstone in their program so instead we get lots of hands-on clinical hours. It’s just a great program and everyone is so kind and ready to help. The cohort ahead of us is really great and we get to take some classes with them. It’s also close-ish to home. I’m from Toronto so as an international student it helps that it’s not too far!
  2. I was accepted last year and have accepted by deferred offer for this year I’m not sure how many spots were offered or who has committed yet. But I believe the deadline is coming up soon in April so people will likely be coming off the waitlist soon if people decline. You have some great offers if not IU! But good luck, keep us posted!
  3. Hey! Just wondering if anybody has committed to IU or is considering it! Would love to get in touch. Just visited the department this past week and I’m very excited!! Congrats to everyone on your acceptance and waitlist decisions!
  4. Yeah, pacific is a tough one. I was Waitlisted last year on tier 1 and never got off. It’s different every year though. There are years where they go through tier 2. Good luck!!!!
  5. Hey! i actually applied last year and got into a few schools. Ultimately I chose Indiana but I couldn’t afford to attend last year because I’m coming from Canada and the exchange rate is insane so I had to defer. Anyways, I figured it out financially and I’ll be starting at IU in August! If anyone has questions about the process let me know! Definitely a stressful wait! Good luck, let me know if you’re applying to IU :)

  7. Yes! Not too personal! It’s an accelerated program, since I have a lot of experience and I’m 27, I’m ready to get the show on the road! It’s also only an 8 hour drive from home, and I really connected with the person I was communicating with from the beginning of the application season. Very friendly and warm! So it just felt right.
  8. I did my undergrad in speech and Language and fell in love with the audiology classes we had to take. Then I did a post grad in Communicative Disorders and was placed on externship in 2 big hospitals in Toronto where I got to see Cochlear implant surgeries and watch them subsequently hear for the first time in follow up visits. I was HOOKED!!! I’ve been working in a hearing clinic for 2 years now doing audiometric testing for ENTs and applied to a Canadian program last year which is really competitive and screens at grades before even looking at experience, and I was rejected. There are only 3 English programs in all of Canada so it’s very tough to get in. I’m just ready to become a audiologist now so I’m excited to have the opportunity to go to a US program!
  9. Has JMU sent out rejections/waitlist offers yet? Assuming I wasn't admitted as I wasn't offered an interview, but haven't heard anything about waitlist/rejection either.
  10. Has anyone heard about funding from Indiana?
  11. It’s tough! But I’ve been watching all of the virtual tours, and YouTube videos. Kinda just gotta trust your gut with this.
  12. I think it’s dependant on the specific program. I was waitlisted at a school and then Waitlisted applicants had to do an interview once on the waitlist. I think other schools are different, where you are likely rejected if you don’t receive an invite for an interview. But, again, I believe it’s different from school to school.
  13. I've committed to Indiana University in Bloomington!! Has a group been made yet on Facebook?
  14. If you're wait-listed, and then subsequently accepted, do you still have a chance to be considered for funding?
  15. I hear you and its totally valid to want to stay close to home because that's where your support system is. I'm Canadian and applying only to American schools because, as great as our programs are here, I wanted the opportunity to explore and escape my comfort zone. I think the best way to grow and truly focus on your future is to put yourself in that position. HOWEVER...money is a thing forsure..and it isn't cheap to got to grad school. There are definitely financial pros to staying near home. You need to decide based on your own situation, all I can say is that you only live this life once! Do what feels right for you. Do a gut check. What feels right? hope that helps!
  16. Yeah, they sent it to the e-mail I applied with on CSDCAS :) good luck!
  17. Indiana University-Bloomington just released their decisions!!
