  1. I agree with schoolpsych1122... I don't think you can get an offer after April 15th bc of APA guidelines (but is this program different?). Do you know what number you are on the waitlist? This may be helpful in answering your question of if to hold out or not! Honestly, I would say it is unethical to accept and then go back and decline (because then they will reject/turn down others that wanted your spot--then other applicants will make a decision based on this) but it's definitely been done. This is your life and your happiness so just do what you have to! This may be a crazy idea-- but is it possible to reach out to your PI and directly ask if the spot has been taken and tell him/her that this is your first choice, and you're waiting to hear about movement? (unless ofc you already did this with the program director--but is the program director your PI?) When I spoke to my PI it didn't sound like they update people on the waitlist as the spots have been taken--but they update people as spots open. I could be totally wrong on this, and like I said-- you've probably already checked! In conclusion, I would say four things: a) yes, unethical b) find out waitlist order c) find out if the spot is still waiting to be filled d) no offers after april 15th good luck!
  2. hello! congrats to everyone as we progress together in this process. for those waiting to hear back by april 15th-- I know there is a lot of movement happening on the waitlists these next few weeks, and sending you positive, hopeful energy. thank you for months of support, kindness, and helpful information. I wish everyone the best, and looking forward to advancing in the field as colleagues/seeing each other at conferences, ect! *p.s. I saw on the results page someone was especially torn about being on the waitlist for east carolina-- pls feel free to reach out, I think I can be of some help.
  3. of-course, sometimes you just do what you have to... funding is essential.
  4. hear you mdesm... I felt the same in all of my interviews and in research fit, and was surprised when I didn't get the offers I planned, hoped, and worked for. I keep telling myself that this was an insanely competitive cycle/broke records for applications! and also everyone is incredible and qualified who is interviewing, so from the admissions side it must be so hard to make a decision. one of my friends is in a clinical phd program and helps with the admissions process, she says it has just been challenging this year bc they received ~600 applications for 4 spots, and everyone who interviews is great-- and everyone who interviews will do well if admitted. {ofc clinical is more competitive, but I think her insight is valuable/applicable} it's hard to tell what it comes down to-- it seems to be personality, or what connection you had with the pi. it's not that any of us did anything wrong it's just so competitive/seems to almost be up to chance this year. {also, I feel if I could have just gotten to be in person, I would have made a better connection and engagement with the program and individuals-- possibly resulting in different admission decisions. obviously these are unproductive thoughts, but i couldn't help thinking these things} sending you good energy on usf-- it is totally very very possible to come off the waitlist! I would reach out and find out what number you are. wishing you all the best~
  5. e-mail ? thank you! if you're curious about your position at umb, i would email emily (the program coordinator!). they included in their email a comment asking us to make a decision in 48 hours if we are holding competing offers-- so i'm sure this will add pressure to make a choice sooner rather than later! personally I will take a *tad* longer than this-- i just want to talk to the faculty in making this important decision (and within 48 hours of receiving this offer puts me at the weekend). but i will be making a choice in a considerate timeframe/very very soon as I feel an ethical obligation to the fellow amazing applicants... i can't imagine holding onto something til april lol! good luck
  6. hello- i received my acceptance to uconn on feb 5th and my acceptance to umb today (feb 25th). it seems uconn is sending individually based on pi, and umb as a group! hope that helps!
  7. okay great, thank you! yes, that's what I figured but just wanted to check. i'm in the same boat
  8. have you heard back from umassboston?
  9. hello, are any of these school psych? I believe most of these schools don't have school psych programs. just clarifying ? if this is clinical or another psych program, maybe a different thread would be more helpful. wishing you all the luck!
  10. sorry umass what? I have an interview for umass boston on feb 5th-- the invite was sent on dec 17th. I don't know if that's helpful to you!
  11. you have exceptional experience and background!! mine is the opposite -- I have just a little bit of education experience {shadowed in some schools, delivered therapy in school settings, took ed psych and special ed undergrad classes}, but my experience is strongly psychology. I have my bs in psych and 3 yrs of clinical research experience. I originally intended to apply to clinical programs, but wanted to do more applied work. I wouldn't worry a bit about the psych component. although experience is important, I think our communication of how these have shaped our research intentions and our role as psychologists carries much more weight. you'll get all of your psych experience in the program ? {hopefully I'll get my ed experience there!}
  12. same! honestly I found it a little inconsiderate/decreased my interest in the program! I know that sounds harsh-- but from reading the results section from previous years and the lack of responsiveness from the faculty when I reached out with questions-- I got this feeling that they kind of cherry pick exactly who they want, then go backwards later in the game... which I feel is just inconsiderate to us when we are working from a timeline and have put forth effort maybe I'm being too harsh ❤️ it's a great program, I just don't like that energy. also ~ I reached out to the program coordinator months ago and she said that they have full funding for at-least 5 students {so was a little surprised when funding became a discussion-- I mean it seems doable though after listening to the panel!!} I would love to hear other's thoughts!
  13. I applied to lehigh phd! I haven't heard anything yet either ?
  14. omg yes of-course!! since we are applying to a research-based program as PhD applicants, I think it's imperative to show engagement with the current projects & faculty even if they make admission decisions as a committee and not individually. {I am no expert but that is my take!}
