Congrats everybody!!! Rockstars!! UT send they'd send the full financial package/info in a week so I'm also still playing the field until then. Also interviewing with Columbia & Sarah Lawrence this weekend! Good luck everyone. From what I know though I will probably end up at UT like @cheesy You probs already know all of this but some questions I was glad to have had thought of concise answers to for the interview were : why playwriting, why an MFA and why NOW, why this program, tell us about work you love/questions you have/things you're excited to explore at this program. And then of course just being really honest about the kind of art you like and artist you are. I definitely don't only want to write plays - I act and direct and wanna build a company. A lot of the way I think about writing comes from my acting background. I thought owning that would hurt my prospects but I think it actually helped. You are valid and good in and away from all of this! Gluck all!

@Agezyou are a a star!!!!!!!! it's such a great program. celebrating you! also you probably know this but the 48 hour thing seems unfair. i feel strongly that, should you need it, you could petition for more time as you weigh your options.

@cheesyhow was your UT?? Just finished mine. It was chill? SO short obviously. too short for follow up questions or statements which is sad bc i felt like i could have gone on. Tried not to be obsessed with Annie B even though I am. They asked about two very specific things from my cover letter - a weird study abroad trip i did and another weird workshop i led and then let me ask questions (i had few bc i've been chatting with an alum) but i asked about michener vs dept of theatre and dance & also if i was correct that the curriculum had non writing theatre reqs like devising. then annie asked what the worst version of grad school would be like for me and offered a really awesome response - it was clear she was trying to make sure that I was interviewing them as much as they interviewed me even though... obviously thats not true. lol. anyways. hope all is well to all the interview-ees. its good to ventttttttttt. xoxo

Congrats to all those accepted to CMU and stay strong to those moving on. Curious - did CMU interview? Do folks have advice regarding interviews?

Also the interview says "semi-finalist" this is probably one of those "is the deadline on the day or before the day" semantical probs but does that mean there will be another interview round for finalists or are the finalists the ones who get in?

Thank you!! Grateful for anything to celebrate during this impossible year. I got the email from Kirk Lynn (Assoc. Professor and Head of Playwriting) at 11:30EST this morning. They used plural subjects throughout so I think it was a mass blast of some kind but thats not to say it will be the only one. I have to confirm by Feb 5th and the interview is 15 minutes on Feb 10th and will be attended by Annie B., Braden Jacobs Jenkins, Kirk Lynn and Pat Shaw. Oversharing bc I know I'm going to want the same from y'all in a few weeks. I'm still somewhat confused by the Michener/Dept of Theatre divide and how that's going to affect funding and programming for this year. If anyone's investigated make yourself known!
