  1. In at Columbia off the waitlist!!! I was totally floored since I'd already let go of any expectations for this cycle. It was my top choice program so I'm freakin' stoked! I'm really grateful to have had this community to keep me sane over these last two years. Thanks for everything, folks. ❤️
  2. @MischiefNotManaged wtf that's awful! I'm so sorry—how horribly disrespectful! I got a similar rejection email to y'all from Hunter and found out that I was waitlisted at Columbia! That's the last school I've heard back from this year, which leaves me with rejections from BU, Brooklyn, and Hunter college and waitlisted at Columbia and NYU. My goal for this year was to get two interviews, which I did, so at the end of the day, I'm definitely still happy. What a wild process! Grateful for all the lessons learned and grateful to have this community to help keep me sane.
  3. Hey! I found out this morning via email that I was rejected from BU if that helps!
  4. I was also waitlisted at NYU! Glad to be in good company with all y'all. :)
  5. Also got a Columbia interview! Stoked!! For NYU peeps who interviewed—do you remember what was said about when decisions might come out? I totally spaced on writing that info down!
  6. Thanks, guys!! To those who were asking about Hunter and Brooklyn College, I haven't heard from them yet either!
  7. Got an interview request from NYU today! Super stoked!
  8. Hey folks! I also would love some rec letter advice, specifically in regards to submitting for my second year of applications. I think the three people who I had write my letters last fall are still my best options. Would I have to ask them each to write completely new letters? I asked one of my letter writers/former professors about this and they said they felt like it'd be fine if they just changed the date in the letterhead and resubmitted the same letter, but I was worried that this would come across as low-effort on my part. Thanks, guys!
  9. Waitlisted at Rutgers today! For me, that makes two waitlists and three rejections. Just waiting to hear from Ohio now!
  10. Thanks reporting back! I’ve been wondering about Ohio myself.
  11. Congrats @nickelmoop! I was also waitlisted at Columbia today. Thank you to the folks above for sharing their stories. This is my first year applying and Columbia is the only school I’ve had a positive response from so far. I knew going into this year that I wasn’t likely to get in anywhere on my first try, so these testimonials from you guys who have kept plugging away at it are really encouraging to read. I’ve loved being a part of this forum and am so grateful to y’all for being such an awesome community/resource/support structure.
  12. Had my Columbia interview early this afternoon! I spoke to David Henry Hwang and Morgan Jenness and it was absolutely lovely—they were both able to speak about specific aspects of my play and items on my resume in the short time that we had, which was really cool. Wishing the best to our other Columbia interviewees today and tomorrow!
  13. Wow! Seems like there’s a lot of us interviewing for Columbia. Makes sense since it’s a larger cohort. Does anyone know how many they’re interviewing total? I was going to count the interview slots but then I got nervous that someone would take the time slot I was eyeballing, haha.
  14. Huge congrats @nickelmoop!! That's awesome!! (And hell yessss to Sylvan Esso!) Just found out I've got an interview at Columbia this weekend! Eek!
  15. Wow, exciting news! Huge congrats to all the folks who heard back from UT Austin/CMU! I just submitted my last application of the year for Ohio University! Feels good to be done! I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high for any of these schools (2020 pretty much killed my ability to be optimistic about anything, lol), but I can't help but be grateful for all the lessons I learned from my first time through the application process. Even if I don't get in for this fall, I know I'm going to feel so much more prepared going through this process next year—and I owe a lot of it to you lovely folks posting on this board! Thanks, all!
