  1. Does anyone know what the faculty/current student social events during interview weekends will be like? I'm kind of nervous about those, I don't really know what to expect.
  2. Are you guys planning to have some powerpoint slides / figures to show during your interviews? I am not sure if I should. I've received conflicting advice.... some people told me that interviews are suposed to be like conversations, so it is not advised to have any slides or anything whereas others say it will be helpful to get your points across. I am leaning towards not having any, but idk if that may make me look unprepared/less prepared than other people getting interviewed if they do have them

  4. It seems that they usually send out invites on the 2nd Tuesday or Wednesday of January.... so hopefully we hear sometime tomorrow or Wednesday.
  5. For how long do y'all think we should prepare to talk about our research in the interview? I imagine that it would also vary depending on how long the actual interview will be (Some of mines are 30 min, some 45, some 1 hr...)
  6. You're right. Now that I look at the email again, the only way that it is personalized is that it has my name.
  7. I finally heard from NYU Vilcek. I applied to the Genes Cells, and Organisms cluster (GCO) btw.
  8. That's a terrible way to apply to graduate school.
  9. @devcbyDid you get an invitation from Stanford Biosciences already? I thought they said that they'd start sending invited Jan 11.
  10. Does anyone know why schools are getting so many more applications this cycle? Is it because people are applying to a lot more schools due to the pandemic?
  11. Ah yes it is on the website. I was offered the feb 4-6 weekend, but I have a conflict. Do you think it would be okay to ask them to move me to the feb 18-20 one?
  12. For people who received interviews for Yale's BBS MCGD track, what dates did you receive the interview for? Just wondering if they have only have one interview session or more..
  13. Do you know if this is specifically for this year because of the pandemic, or just in general going forward? I would think that Harvard has more than enough funding to not change the amount of people they are admitting/hiring...
  14. Yeah it seems that in the past, Harvard BBS sends out all invites on the same day... so we shouldn't start worrying too much until more people start posting that they received an interview
  15. I applied to NYU also. I put down GCO (genes cells and organisms) as my top track, Haven't heard back either.
  16. Congrats!! What track did you put as your first choice?
  17. It depends on the program. Some send all invites out in one day, whereas others send them out in waves. If it is making you very anxious, maybe try looking at the results from the previous years for the program you are interested in to see how interviews were offered.
  18. Thanks for the update! A quarter, as in a quarter of all applicants will get interviews?
  19. Let us know what they say! I've applied there as well.
  20. Kinda off topic, but do y'all think that schools will be interviewing more applicants this year? Because they won't be having to pay to fly people out, etc? Just trying to gauge my chances of getting accepted after interviews.
