Sorry wrong reply.

I agree! I really do believe that art schools that are super hard to get into choose students at random— I believe they don’t even look at all students once they’ve reached the max students they want to interview which I don’t really believe is fair. But I definitely agree with you!
-
I heard they’re pretty generous but a lot of students who couldn’t afford grad school in the past years have started a go fund me page where individuals have generously donated! You could definitely do that! Keep us posted!

Has anyone here applied to New York academy of art? I was thinking of applying there as I’ve heard great things about the school!
-
These are so stunning!!!! Do you have a website? ?
-
Wow, I’ve heard MANY stories like this but never imagined them to be true. I heard many students who applied in the past years and were interviewed came out unhappy because they were being made fun of in regards to their art. I applied because I’m a painter and that’s my only main focus— the school just appealed to me. But I thought different? Many painting students in the past classes have had WAY more 3D structures/sculptures rather than paintings.

Was wondering for any art school how does a school handle a situation if a student doesn’t accept the invitation of acceptance for that school but rather chooses another?

I received the call on Friday! And no, I doubt it! My friend is at Parsons and she says their application is more like rolling admission after deadline which is Jan 1st. They’ll get to you! If you were rejected they would have definitely let you know!
-
Received an email from Yale! Rejected. I ended up applying to Parsons and SCAD last minute and have an interview at both!! I would be happy with either. Good luck everyone! and for those who didn’t get into Yale. This was my dream school ever since I was little and can’t imagine how many more individuals feel that way on here who received a rejection. Don’t let a silly little school in a world of opportunities keep you from succeeding. Everyone on here is so exceptionally talented and will at the end be where they want. ?

I think it's going to be a while! The graduating students are currently having their thesis exhibition which may delay things- a delay due to Covid-19 as well. I think we will probably be hearing back next week!
-
It's so nerve wracking! But yes, we are in this together and I'm sure everyone will get into the school they want bc from the art portfolios shared on here, everyone is SO talented!!! Good luck!

I had my art professor, curator, and friend (who practices art) write mine! Letter of recommendations are really important to graduate schools as this platform allows individuals who have worked with you to thoroughly talk about you and your talent. At open house Yale said stated that they don't like letter of recommendations that are only a paragraph. It has to be thorough and more about you within the field of practice. I understood that completely because letter of recommendations show an individuals personality and how motivated/determined they are to succeed.

Of course! I’d love to share my art— https://mahnoorspallart.com

Awesome! Thank you for that information. They call you for an interview or email you? This is my first time applying.
-
Yale decisions won't be released until the end of this week or perhaps even next week as they stated that decisions will go out beginning of February. You'll be just fine! Best of luck!!

I also heard that Yale loves diversity in their class and especially when it comes to artwork. My friend told me that many individuals with different ethnic backgrounds didn't apply last cycle?
-
Yes, I understood that! But what was mentioned was that “Yale does allow deferrals” which was incorrect. Information about them making an exception for class that entered during covid-19 wasn’t provided. It was just a misunderstanding.

The fact that you had to go back and edit that portion simply does provide proof that you know it was wrong. Also, I did post the email portion. Have a good day.
-
You’re welcome! Good luck!

I applied on the 5th! Perhaps that’s why. “We truly hope to consider you in our applicant pool this year (which as of this writing is considerably smaller than it has been in years past), so don't miss it.”
-
You weren’t passing information (well, not completely) along you were labeling individuals based on their background— stating an individual was less capable or shouldn’t be considered only because they didn’t have their undergrad in art. You were helpful in some areas but please don’t belittle individuals.
-
Thank you for making that clear! My message was towards our applicant pool as deferrals are not allowed.
-
Perhaps you didn’t get the email but I did— my application was submitted the day of the deadline and the email was received one day prior. It stated that this years applicant pool is considerably low— which I actually do believe because many are not applying due to travel restrictions and simply a loss of motivation. It’s quite wrong of you to assume that individuals who majored in different areas during undergrad didn’t have a career goal towards art? I have many friends who majored in different areas undergrad because they liked the subject knowing they wanted a career in art and that some MFA programs do accept individuals from different areas. When it comes to art, it doesn’t matter what you studied during your undergrad— art is about true talent and what you can bring to the table. In other words I praise self taught artists more than anything because it’s simply pure talent. Everyone, whether they’re a natural artist or an artist that went to school for art is exceptional.
-
Don’t be nervous! I’m sure you’ll get good news. ?? Yale sent out an email regarding them having considerably lower applicants this application pool so that’s some good news— many other MFA programs are following right behind. 2020-2021 (so far) has been weird for everyone!
-
Hi! That’s actually incorrect. Yale does NOT practice deferment and the explanation is provided on their website. They also briefly spoke about this topic. “Students are admitted to Yale's MFA for the Fall semester of each year only. Please note: Yale School of Art does not practice admission deferment; An offer of admission for Fall 2021 is valid only for enrollment for that year regardless of the in-residence conditions of the Yale campus at that time.”
