I've almost decided that I'm going to take Duke. But I wanted to know - how much is the MPP geared towards domestic policy? I've heard that like KSG, the emphasis even in the social policy stream in Duke is on US policy. Since I'm an international student, I'm looking for more comparative courses which deal with different development strategies (like the WWS course). Would I get that in Duke?

The GPPI MPP

So now with the HKS reject out of the way, I have to decide between Duke, Georgetown and Maryland. Duke is offering to pay for about 75% of my tuition, Georgetown is giving me less than 33%, and Maryland is giving me almost 100%. I'm an Asian student, and I'm looking to come back and work on social policy in my home country, so the DC network isn't a factor. Brand name is definitely an issue. All these universities are still unaffordable, so I'll have to apply for external funding anyway. I'm leaning towards Duke at this point (so much that I'm in danger of tipping over), but I just wanted to ask the board - should I be considering Georgetown or Maryland a little more?

Rejected. Congrats to everyone who made it! One small (very small) part of me is a little (very little) glad that at least this is all over now.

Got my aid decision today. (I'm ahead of US time, so it seems they're working on Saturdays!) They're giving me $10,000. I think it's close to as much they've given anyone else on this forum, but sadly it's not enough for me. So it's bye-bye, G-town

I agree with this. I think I'm eventually going to have to decide between Duke and Georgetown. And Duke's been amazing with their e-group and constant updates and prompt replies. Georgetown has been unresponsive and vague, and I'm sure they have an excellent course, but this doesn't say much for how they regard their students.

eek what's the "commitment to public service" essay?! I didn't have to do it!

I have to submit application forms for external scholarships by the 27th, and I need to tell them which school I'm applying for. Hear me, O HKS gods!
