  1. I haven't heard of such a scenario before either nor have my batchmates who have applied this year/previous years. Yes, it reads".. your application has not met the minimum GPA requirement of the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies..". I am shocked as my gpa is >3 in the US grading systems (which I believe isn't so low?). I have asked them to revert back but they havent replied yet. Also thanks for the suggestion, I have asked them if there's a possible way to mitigate this What's even more weird is that my portal never got updated even when I had been receiving mails for admitted students till a day before. I would recommend all of the admitted students to check the same Really hoping there's a way out of this cause I had already made plans (quit my job etc)
  2. Hi all I just received a mail from SEAS that I haven't met a minimum GPA requirement, after being accepted into the program earlier. Has anyone else that's been accepted into SEAS received something similar or is it just me? Does this typically happen?
  3. Well I'm a new applicant but I'm considering applying again. But damn it seems futile to be very honest, it seems like this course is really picking pace Do ad-comms typically give feedback? This is my first year applying to grad schools so I'm very new to this
  4. I wonder if it were the grades for me. I know only 1 person from my previous batch that got in and had >9/10..
  5. Got my result but didn't get in.. damn what a year
  6. Pretty generic rejection. "We regret to inform" etc etc Hope one of the peeps in this forum gets in! Really want to get an idea as to what they look for in an applicant
  7. Same here. Absolutely gutted but expected it. Good luck to those still waiting!
  8. Oh wow congrats! I applied to Science, tech and policy instead but haven't heard back yet Will you be taking that offer if not TPP?
  9. Looks like we're in the last mile now! As for anyone trying to understand why the delays are in place, I think a lot of colleges have delayed processes this year (I'm guessing due to covid). I'm still waiting to hear from CMU for their EPP course and from ETH Zurich despite having applied for both on Dec 15th. If anyone from this forum has also applied to these two unis, please let me know if you've heard back from them!
  10. Good luck to you too my friend. I too was someone who was just applying to TPP but realised that was a little too farfetched for me haha Then I applied to a couple more but that's it. I too applied to energy and environment track as I have a background in renewable energy (working on energy storage systems both as distributed networks and centralised systems) Fingers crossed, hope at least a few of us get in (this forum keeps me a bit sane so thanks everyone)
  11. Yeah I too see only 3 acceptances. Guess we'll just have to wait another week
  12. Nothing for me. Still waiting, still a little hopeful but deep down I guess I know what it's going to be.. All the best folks!
  13. Have you applied for masters or PhD at CMU? Also have you heard from them? My area of interest is renewable energy/climate change too! I've also applied to UMich SEAS which I've received an offer from in their sustainable systems track. Also, I'm trying to explore the research field (which I never have before, have industry exposure though) as well so I'm wondering which place is the best MIT would've been great but my chances are bleak if I have to be frank (low CG, not much research experience). I applied only cause carpe diem Personally, I really liked the EPP curriculum though. I'm just honestly worried about funding (CMU seems quite expensive) in the event I do get in others I've also applied to Science, Tech and Policy at ETH Zurich. Waiting to hear back from them too. I've heard Zurich is quite research oriented. Sadly I'm waiting for all results and just contemplating for the time being
  14. It says 16th Jan on my portal as well. Weirdly though, my portal doesn't seem to reflect my application decision nor any funding information What's work study btw? Also you're talking about the wolverine portal right?
  15. Would you then say UMich is a lot more research oriented masters? Cause im actually trying to explore the research field as I never really got around it in undergrad. Although having worked 2 years in a full time role myself, a higher paying job is definitely quite attractive but Im a bit anxious about the whole visa process. Sounds quite stressful for international students I read on their site that the GSIs are based on the merits and hence are usually granted to 2nd year students. Whereas GSRAs are from the departments (don't remember exactly) and you may get from the beginning. Hoping to talk to someone soon from the department to get more details But from what you say, funding looks quite difficult if it's not mentioned in the acceptance letter
  16. Damn must've counted PhD students as well then
  17. Just out of curiosity, have y'all applied to the EPP program at CMU? I found it quite similar to TPP and have been looking for inputs from others on the program
  18. According to the past years data, I think they accept 30-40 students in a cohort. Correct me if I'm wrong here But this year may be different, I'm guessing a few students have deferred? So I really don't know if they'll accommodate remaining or increase number of intake. I really hope they increase number of intake, purely by the numbers it increases our chances by 0.000005% I guess haha I've had the same question for a long time now but never had the chance (more like guts) to ask Ed about this
  19. Well I certainly hope so but i highly doubt it's coming today. My guess is we'll hear over the next week or the worst case by 15th March
  20. Hey that's great! MPA is typically more focused in public policy, right? For me, ive really shot for the stars by applying to MIT but that's a dream for any engineer I feel... Waiting for the results to come out for that but if not, I think I will be joining SEAS I'm worried about the funding too as they haven't mentioned any in my email but would you happen to know if we can get some sort of funding in the 4 months from accepting the offer to commencement of classes? Like do graduate schools typically waive tuition (part or full) if the prof agrees to fund a project (GSRA is what I believe it's called). Cause given my grades, merit scholarship is definitely not an option I know MIT does it so I'm hoping other schools do it too
  21. Dang I'm so sorry. But as the admission committee mentioned, "most competitive pool in SEAS' history". Hope you get in other colleges you've applied to Very fortunately for me I got in 1/5 colleges I've applied to with SEAS being the first one to release the results. But tbh, I have ~2 years work exp in renewable energy so I believe that worked out in my favour (with my grades, I wasnt expecting any college to take me in...)
  22. Just a thought here, I believe sustainable systems track at SEAS is trying to focus more on the solutions to environmental issues like you mentioned for Bren. Exactly why I chose sustainable systems track for myself. But if what you say is right about Bren, damn I missed out on that cause that's exactly what I aim to achieve with a slight focus on social science. Where do you plan to go anyway? @ICDIthey did mention over the next 1-1.5 weeks to me on 24th Feb so I guess you'd want to wait it out, fingers crossed
  23. If I may ask, how are the courses in Duke, UCSB different from the one at Michigan SEAS? I'm not too sure how I missed these courses but I've applied to MIT TPP, CMU EPP, ETH Zurich Science Tech & Policy, and stanford MS&E (with an aim to speacialise in energy systems/e-mobility). So far I've only heard back from SEAS, waiting for others You may DM me if you don't wanna reply here. Also congrats on UCSB!
  24. Congrats everyone! I got in as well for Sustainable Systems!! I was also notified via email communication and no update on the portal.. There's no mention of funding in my email either. I hope we get to know more over the coming few days. Kinda hoping I get some sort of GSRA funding tbh Which tracks have you lot applied to?
  25. Oh wow, now I'm all the more worried. But I'm guessing this was on the wolverine website as I can only see "View Application Data" and "View Credentials" but there seems a little space for another "View...". Cause the applyweb portal seems to be only for documentation purpose, in my opinion as even Stanford is using the same. My guess is they must've rejected the applications that didn't meet the pre-requisites, maybe it's an automated one for pre-requisites? @qrrclYes, there are two portals. Applyweb is one and the other is UMich's own portal "Wolverine Access". After submitting our application, I believe we all received a mail to make an account on that portal. Maybe you should check that mail from them if you haven't made one already
