I got two emails. One purchase receipt. The other one says

"You have successfully submitted your application. Your OUAC/ORPAS reference number...." and then a list of things I can do once they go through with my payment completely.

Yes, me too! Except when you log into your ORPAS account, are you also receiving the "We are currently processing your application" message despite receiving those 2 emails? :)

  2. Hey everyone, we finally made it!

Is anyone else getting the message "We are currently processing your application" after submitting? Is that normal, because I got an email from ORPAS stating I have successfully submitted my application along with the purchase receipt... I'm just unsure of whether there needs to be a different message.

  3. Hi everyone,

Will you be writing 1 huge paragraph for the statement letter, or will you be dividing it into separate paragraphs over ORPAS? I know that spaces and breaking up paragraphs counts as a character, but I was wondering if anyone knows what is preferred by admission teams.

Also - to those applying to SLP and AUD, are you writing a completely different letter or leaving it roughly the same?

    Hey ?

With everything being online after the pandemic, how did you guys find professors who are willing to be your referees?  Did you guys ask professors who you guys saw in person before the pandemic?

    Hey!!

Both my referees are from when I completed courses online. For my university, however, we were required to attend class over Zoom so I had the opportunity to use my webcam and voice during sessions. That way, we got to know each other just as well as we would in-class.

I don't think the admission board will be too harsh over this, seeing as a pandemic is something completely out of our control... Maybe try reflecting on courses you did really well in, and if you had the opportunity to meet/get to know the professor? I personally don't think it'll matter if you choose to ask a professor pre- or -post pandemic.

  5. Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if anyone else is having this problem when inputting their prerequisites, but even though I have finished inserting all of my required prerequisites for a given school (e.g., University of Toronto), it proceeds to give me the option to add more.

Do I need to keep adding courses until this option is no longer given to me? I checked on the admission website and I have all of the required prerequisites, I just don't understand why it is asking me for more...

They're not looking at volunteer experience because of COVID

    https://www.ouac.on.ca/guide/orpas-western/#csd-covid

I think you still have the opportunity to describe any volunteer experience! When looking at Western, for instance, the website says, "clinical volunteer hours will not be required, but you will still have an opportunity to describe any other volunteerism or relevant paid work already completed."

I guess they may skim over your volunteer experience, assuming you have already completed hours in the past?

  7. Hi everyone,

I hope you are all doing well.

I was thinking of also applying to other programs on the side of SLP, such as Audiology and Occupational Therapy, but I was wondering whether this may cause my references to have to write multiple letters for me?

Has anyone applied to multiple programs with the same professors? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  8. For those of you who applied for your second time around, did you have to go through the entire process of reaching out to professors and clinicians for references all over again? I don't think the balls in my court this year, so I'm already thinking about next year's process ahh lol. So overwhelming

  9. Hi everyone, I hope you're all doing well during these stressful times.

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted so far (and to those who haven't: please do not give up. Your knowledge and worth is not limited to an acceptance/rejection). To those who are still waiting on a response, I hope you receive great news in the days to come?.

Quick question - I remember coming across a page on ORPAS that stated how many applicants typically apply to each school, along with how many are accepted. For some reason, I can't seem to find that page anymore. Does anyone have any numbers (or even the link) that they could share with me? Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know what u of T, Western and UOttawa look for in an applicant? Do grades go a long way or do they highly value experience?

This might not be relevant to SLP, but I asked this same question to students in different masters programs at UofT & Western, and they've all given me around the same response: Western truly values experience whereas UofT leans more towards grades. I assume they are both fairly important, however.

I guess we just have to wait and see for ourselves tonight, or even tomorrow? Super nervous! I hope everyone is keeping themselves distracted and aren't refreshing their pages every 10 minutes, like myself lol.

I have a similar issue (course description links that expire) and I've been told by ORPAS that I can upload the syllabi through SAM. So to be 100% sure I'd upload the syllabus from your course (hopefully you kept it!)

Not sure about the newer syllabi though

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your quick response! I will now be uploading the expired syllabi over SAM.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you put for the "Course URL" since you uploaded the document over SAM? I tried to leave it blank but that doesn't seem to work.

  12. Hi everyone!

I can't seem to find any URL for prerequisite courses that I have taken in the past years (e.g., 2018) as they have been removed and replaced with 2020-2021 syllabi.

Should I be worried or do the newer syllabi work just as fine?

Thank you in advance, and I wish you all the best!
