  1. I can tell you that Albert Einstein COM drug tests research (nonclinical) laboratory employees as well as all their PhD and MD students.  This is probably rare but just so you know, some places are like that - I do not know what they would say if you were from a recreational state but it does seem wrong to discriminate against a legal activity.

Congrats to those who have gotten interviews and acceptances!

I ended up not getting a single interview this year which is super disheartening....

I'm starting to think about how to improve my application for the next cycle. I want to email the schools I applied to if they could tell me ways my app was lacking/ways to improve? I'm not sure how receptive programs would be to this. Are there any other ways that I can try to find out what to do better?

I think the things holding me back are that I have an average, but not outstanding, GPA (~3.5) but closer to 3.2 in my bio classes and I never got close to a professor as an undergrad (I'm currently 2 yrs out of school, working as a tech). Is the fact that I didn't have a professor write a letter for me this time what completely dinged me out?

Any advice and tips would be super helpful!

If you are working as a tech, did you have your PI write you a letter?  That would likely hold more weight than one from an undergrad professor you werent close with.  I used one undergrad prof who liked a paper I wrote in his class my senior year and then two PIs I worked with/collaborated with as a technician.  I think those letters were far more important.  [Yes, I had a successful app cycle :)].  Keep your head up!  DM me with any other questions, I'd love to help.

Idk this post seems like a troll in response to the BCMB results.... not to come for anyone, but I'd be mad surprised that only one person has received and acknowledged their admission update for neuroscience in the results section and then not frolicked into the forum to post an update as multiple people had been talking about WCGS in the preceding days, like @Neuro-tic or @Smoothbrain or @davidoff05 to name a few.

I don't think you feel dejected and perhaps wait on some people to post an update here on in the results before feeling crappy. Peace and Love.

I haven't heard anything back and felt like interviews went really well if that makes anyone feel better? I am also kinda confused why we haven't heard anything.  I also hope they would let everyone know at once and not just send the acceptances but I have no experience with this so maybe that is not how they would do it

well technically they are both neuroscience PhDs but from different departments. GPN is mostly located on the main campus while A&N is mostly on the medical campus. There's also an interdisciplinary PhD called Behavioral Neuro on the medical campus too.

"Well technically.." I think it's safe to say when I said "Neuroscience" it was very obvious I was referencing the GPN "Graduate Program in Neuroscience" and not either of these other programs which have more words than just "neuroscience" but thanks..

Hi all, if I haven't heard from Harvard should I assume I didn't get in? I heard/read through this thread that interview invites went out before Christmas.

Unfortunately I would assume so, I have also accepted defeat on that front.  I saw a post from someone who emailed the Harvard PiN coordinator and they said all interview invites were sent out before the holidays.

Apparently they already sent some invitations. I did apply pretty late though (2 days before the deadline). I also applied pretty late for Weill Cornell (1 day before the deadline) and they sent me an interview invite not too long after.

I am in a similar situation, pretty sure that AECOM is looking at applications on a rolling basis whereas Cornell was not (but idrk).
