  1. The Johns Hopkins SBI PhD program is the only program I haven’t heard anything from. For anyone else in the same boat, I got a little info today: They’ve already sent out their initial 4 offers. I’m apparently on some kind of short list but that was never communicated to me. If you haven’t heard anything from this program, it’s possible you’re on some kind of waitlist. I’ve already accepted another offer so it’s a bit of a moot point for me, but wanted to share in case this is relevant for you. Best of luck!
  2. I accepted my offer to UNC’s PhD in MCH today! I’ve also been declining my other offers. I’m excited! Best of luck to everyone!
  3. My POI at Tulane IHSD told me there’s no tuition waver but they can offer an RA-ship at $18/hr. I will be declining the offer. Just an FYI to anyone applying there in the future. Horrible funding situation!
  4. I interviewed at the end of February and received the acceptance last week. I’m not sure what their process is — could potentially still be interviewing! I interviewed directly with my POI.
  5. I’m a domestic student. I’d reach out directly to your advisor or the department to ask! I think they’re working on the funding packages now.
  6. Here’s my final list: Accepted: UMass HPM, UW Global Health Implementation Science, UNC MCH, Tulane IHSD, UPitt BCHS, UBC population and public health Waitlist: BU DrPH, Emory GHD, Dartmouth HPCP Rejected: Brown HSR, GWU Global Health, JHSPH DrPH, UMN HSRPA, WashU, Yale SBS, (assuming JHSPH SBI but haven’t heard officially. No word from program). The best funding offer is from UMass. I just received a funding offer from UNC and am strongly considering it. I have applied to a funding opportunity at UW but haven’t heard yet. Unsure about funding at other accepted programs. Good luck to all as you weigh your decisions and/or prep for next cycle. This is my second cycle. It can get better! PS. I just welcomed my baby girl into the world this week! It’s been a big week!
  7. I'm a domestic student. I've been in touch directly with my faculty mentor and she sent me an email this weekend saying to expect the funding letter soon. I'd reach out to the department directly to ask!
  8. Congratulations! I'm 39 weeks -- expecting the baby any day now! It'll be a big transition but definitely possible to balance new parenthood with a doctoral program.
  9. I've been accepted into the MCH program as well. My assigned faculty mentor told me to expect a letter detailing funding information soon. I assume soon means this week?
  10. Joining the Hopkins DrPH rejection club (Implementation Science track) Waitlisted at Dartmouth (PhD Health Policy and Clinical Practice)
  11. I just received an acceptance to Tulane's PhD in International Health and Sustainable Development! No funding info was included in the letter. I'm going to reach out to ask about that.
  12. I just got a notification that I'm on the waitlist for Emory's PhD in Global Health and Development. Should find out one way or the other by April 15.
  13. Hi! I’ve been accepted to UNC MCH and am seriously considering. I haven’t gotten funding info yet though. Have you? Feel free to DM me and we can try to connect off the forum if you’d like.
  14. Here's where I'm at so far: Interviews [no decision yet]: BU DrPH, Dartmouth PhD Health Policy and Clinical Practice, Emory Global Health and Development Accepted: UMass Amherst PhD Health Policy and Management, UNC PhD Maternal and Child Health, UW PhD Global Health (Implementation Science track) Rejected: Brown PhD Health Services Research, UMinn Health Services Research, Policy, and Administration, WashU PhD Public Health Sciences No word yet: GWU Global Health, Johns Hopkins SBI, Johns Hopkins DrPH (Implementation Science), Tulane International Health and Sustainable Development, UBC Population and Public Health, UPitt Behavioral and Community Health Sciences, Yale SBS
  15. I prepped for interviews by making sure I could answer questions like: Why a PhD? Why this program? What faculty I want to work with? Dissertation ideas? And of course, be ready to talk about your background, and have some questions prepared that are about the program in general and about the faculty member's own research. I also found it helpful to connect with current students prior to interviewing. Good luck!
  16. I'm not sure! In my acceptance letter it said to let them know if I decide not to attend, as they have a waitlist. I'm not sure what their process is for sending out acceptances / waitlist offers.
  17. I really hope it works out for you this year. I love @InEquity's reframing. I want to share my story in case it's helpful. This is my second cycle applying. Last year I applied to a few programs and didn't get in anywhere. I used the year to regroup and re-strategize. So far I've been accepted into three programs, and I'm still in the process of interviewing for a few more. Meanwhile, re: Inequity's point, my partner and I saw this "lost year" as a little unexpected window to start our family. We're expecting our first child in the next few weeks! I really hope it works out for you this year, but if it doesn't, I hope you keep trying! If you end up needing to do this all over again next year and want to talk through application stuff, feel free to reach out. Someone on the forum did this for me last year and it made a huge difference in how I approached my applications this year.
  18. I was just offered admission to the University of Washington, Global Health PhD program (Implementation Science Track)!
  19. Just got a rejection to WashU PhD in Public Health Sciences
  20. I was just offered admission to UNC's PhD in Maternal and Child Health! Funding information will come separately.
  21. I just got an interview invite for Dartmouth's PhD in Health Policy and Clinical Practice! I'm so excited
  22. Congratulations! Did you have it listed in your CV already as submitted or in press? If you get contacted for an interview, you can always mention it. It should also eventually pop up on your pubmed / google scholar profile!
  23. Does anyone know if UNC's PhD in Maternal and Child Health conducts interviews?
  24. Thank you! It was addressed to me by name, so it's possible they're sending them out one at a time. I hope you hear from them too.
