  1. Hi! not sure if I've responded to you before but I got accepted by The New School for fiction on March 8th. I believe someone else was in for CNF on the same day. Not sure if they send out acceptances in waves though? Or maybe it was about funding? I only got 30% funding and unlikely to attend. Maybe they'll have a waitlist? totally not crazy! and same, waiting on CU.
  2. Haha I’m surprised that I’m surprised ... after spending 4 years of undergrad there, I should have expected this kind of tone ?
  3. Yep, got mine! This is my first rejection, and based on the rejection letter I’ve seen around here/Draft, this is a pretty cold one.
  4. That’s even later than usual!! But I wonder if “unofficial decisions” are made before that and they’re calling people by the end of March, per their previous results. Sometimes schools call before the results are “stamped” and sent out by the university admissions office. I am just making baseless speculations. lol
  5. I’m totally in the same boat haha. Maybe someone else who knows more about this whole process might be able to give better answers. I got into a few this round but none of them is fully-funded so I assume the competition at these places was much less fierce.
  6. Unfortunately I think BU might even drag it into the last week of the month...
  7. If they're on schedule... results should definitely be out in the coming week per their history. But yeah, if you are fiction or poetry, nothing yet! Waiting in solidarity with you!
  8. yeah I think they did interviews earlier this month so I assume decisions have been made at this point. I’m taking it as a rejection now ?
  9. Fiction! Brooklyn is definitely one of my top choices. On the off chance that I get accepted into BU, I'd have to make a very hard choice.
  10. I was very fortunate to be admitted to Brooklyn College which I would love to attend ☺️. No news from Hunter either. Hope we hear from Columbia soon! And your other schools. We're almost there!
  11. guilty of starting up the Columbia conversation again ?‍♀️ Also maybe it's time for GradCafe to start a fact-checking department. lol
  12. Yeah I was wondering who actually teaches there. There are so many adjunct/part-time faculty listed. I love the faculty at NYU and it is a much smaller program. But then I read this (source: https://www.pw.org/content/portraits_from_MFA_nation ).
  13. I haven't done extensive research on MFA programs since I was only focusing on NY schools (I have the impression that you're in the same boat?) but from what I understand about Columbia, their tuition is calculated from the credits the students are required to complete. The degree requires 60 credits as opposed to 32 credits like NYU does, thus "2x the market rate". If NYU required the same amount of credits, it would probably be the same price. I went to NYU for undergrad and it was like a little less 2k for one credit. I imagine it's similar for graduate school and Columbia.
  14. I believe usually acceptances are out around the last week of March. Hope they are on schedule this year! They'd have to notify one way or another by April 15.
  15. Yep. I'm a Mandarin speaker. They say "this is your last notice for a very important mail" blah blah blah... ?
  16. Let's exchange bowls of tears. ?
  17. Bored of waiting... and I was looking around online about programs I applied to. I remember that we were having a conversation about how "competitive" Columbia remains despite a physically large cohort and a financially large price tag. I applied to Columbia just because it's in New York. Though very unlikely to go, I would be happy to know if I got in. So I'm not trying to make any kind of a point here... Found this on Peterson's (This data is probably relatively old) - acceptance rate of BU (another school I applied to) : 3%, acceptance rate of Columbia: 41% So I guess it's fair to say that Columbia is less competitive, compared with a lot of other prestigious programs.
  18. Did I hear Columbia??? Don't even know why I want to know anymore but I do! Where they at Edit: I just went on Columbia's website to check out the faculty again. How are you supposed to know who will actually be teaching you during the two years you're there? There are like 60 people on the faculty page.
  19. Might be worth e-mailing them about!
  20. THANK YOU? EXACTLY. though i wish i could ask for my $110 back ?
  21. I see a poetry acceptance in the Results... and seems like fiction and CNF are both out. I hope you hear something soon!!! And same here, no news from NYU or Columbia. Kind of losing hope on NYU... Columbia is a little impractical to attend but would be a nice morale boost if accepted ?
  22. What schools are you waiting on?
  23. In at The New School for fiction! Same as above, email to check an “update”.
  24. distraction: I was just informed by a friend that an old prison in Melbourne now rents out prison cells to writers, if anyone is interested LOL https://writersvictoria.org.au/support/writers-studios/about-cells-writers
  25. BLOWN AWAY. catching up on some classics I somehow missed in life...
