Applied to Maryland, Rutgers, Michigan, John Hopkins, UNC, and Duke. Have a rejection from Michigan, acceptance from UNC and haven't heard from the others (assuming on waiting list with little hope of getting in). Pumped about UNC as it and Duke were the top two choices. Applied to 8 schools for 2020 and got all rejections. Tough couple of years - but keep hope alive everyone. Spent the past year (after getting MA) being an adjunct professor at a small private school and being an intern at a state museum.
Has anyone heard more about UNC taking on new PhD students in Art History this spring. I see a few rejections on the boards but no acceptances. If you go to their grad school site it states "There are no spring semester admissions in art history. See the Department of Art and Art History's Web site for more detailed instructions." But that link doesn't go anywhere. With a little bit of digging I could only find that the MFA program is not accepting any students this spring - nothing on Art History PhD
Applied to UNC-Chapel Hill, John Hopkins, UofMaryland, Rutgers, Duke, UofMichigan for PhD. Still in wait mode. Waiting list for UNC (they said they are determining funding). Haven't heard from any others - but see here that people are getting 'interview' emails from Maryland, Michigan, JHU, WashU and Duke. Soooooo.
