I realize I haven't updated y'all. I accepted a spot at CU Boulder. I took a short visit up to Boulder a couple weeks ago and fell in love. I got to meet with other grad students and faculty and walk around the campus. Very excited but sad to leave Fort Worth.

Just about. I've started looking for apartments, and emailed folks in the department telling them I am close to 100% to enroll, but I am waiting to formally accept until I can get ahold of my dad over Zoom and tell him the news. 

Admissions Update: I got into Rutgers!!
Rutgers was the only school I applied to so I was nervous waiting to hear back. I am relieved that I was accepted and can't wait for recruitment day in March. Has anyone else committed to Rutgers? Let me know

For those who applied to Penn State and University of Nebraska-Lincoln (PhD programs in Communication) and are still waiting their decisions:
I called them this morning, and Penn State will release their decisions "in the next week or two";  University of Nebraska-Lincoln next week.
I hope NJGrad2025 heard some good news this morning! Fingers crossed!!

twosweet and NJGrad2025 it was my pleasure meeting such incredible and strong people like you two! The zoom session was absolutely wonderful and honestly I felt relaxed. For the first time in weeks I was able to sleep eight hours and not stress about checking my email and portal status! 
How about another round of ZOOM call?!

Shout out to twosweet for organizing the Zoom call this week. It felt like a group therapy session for Ph.D. applicants. Before our call, I was feeling pretty discouraged by this process. That feeling was preventing me from focusing on my day job and schoolwork. The Zoom call helped pull me out of the funk and see things from a different perspective. You and Larik001 are awesome! 
To everyone else, continue to hang in there. We'll get through this process. Wishing you all the best!

Is anyone feeling depressed by this process? I’m finding it impossible to focus
on anything else.

I thanked one of my POI at Penn for taking the time to correspond with me prior to the admissions and she wrote me back by saying this:  
"I'm very sorry we weren't able to offer you a spot, it was an *incredibly* tough year for admissions.  I appreciate the note and I hope you're able to continue your research interests nonetheless. Warmly,"   I feel like at least she knows my existence in the world and even I end up elsewhere else maybe our paths can cross again in the future? who knows!?       

FYI, there are more than 350 applicants competing for 10 spots in Upenn Comm. The program is too competitative. 

Well. Heard from UPenn. It's a no. I know It was super competitive (hundreds of apps for 10 spots) and I have other options but I am a little sad. I really loved their program and could see myself in Philadelphia. This hit me harder than I thought. Regardless, congrats to those who were admitted!

Hi! Thank you! I got word on their admission portal that I got full funding, a generous stipend, health insurance, either a research or teaching assistantship, and a potential for funded summer research. They didn’t say (or didn’t tell me) how many applied or got in. I hope this answers your question.

To those who got accept to University of Colorado Boulder, congrats on your acceptance! I was just wondering if they informed you with how many students have been accepted and whether you were offered full funding or not

I think Upenn usually send out their decision on Valentines Day or the next day. Fingers crossed for all!

I don't mind. I been accepted at UT and George Mason, rejected from Cornell, and waiting for Mizzou, UPenn, and Nebraska.

I am still waiting to hear from Mizzou, Boulder, UPenn, and Nebraska. Has anyone heard a peep from these schools? What do y'all do to deal with impatience? I just want to make my decision and start planning since I will be moving this year.
